More over, the PS3 isn't that much more (if any) than the 360. And even if it was 100x more powerful, that doesnt mean anything, it's the games. I want MGS4 as much as anyone, but I have to be honest, there isnt that many games I really want on the PS3.

I liked the XBOX 1, but I prefered the PS2. This year, I get the feeling it could be different. THe xbox 1 was at least twice the power of the PS2, yet did that make the PS2 a "bad" console? Stop thinking in terms of what people said, look at the games themselves, of all 3 consoles, look at the videos of Gears, Halo, Fable, Lost Planet, and all the other "big hitters of the 360.

Look at the big hitters of the Wii (zelda, metroid, red steel, mario and the others) then the PS3. (which it sounds you have already done) then if you still say the PS3 is the one you want to buy, fair enough. But please don't listen to a "its the best thing ever" from a place that is for PS3 :/

I'm not sure how xbox 360 compares with ps3 i haven't really checked that out but you should look at the Wii graphics compared to 360 and ps3. PS3's gotta be slightly more powerful?

I think it is safe top say that if they dropped the number for Japan, they will have dropped the NA number by the same. If you do it on percentages, that makes 320k in NA, 80k in Japan.
 
I just red that by the end of the term they'll have 4.1 mill. I'm not sure how long this term is?

if you really want to buy a console this xmas go for the 360, an this is coming from a sony fanboy. I dont game much but i still bought a ps1 and a ps2. then this summer i bought myself a hdtv then got a 360 to go with it after one of my mates purchased one. its a seriously good console despite a few niggles, and at the mo i aint fussed if the ps3 is better of whatever since it wont be out for a long while, and the 360 is the only console with awesome high def games including gow plus xbox live is great. i'll prob end up buying a ps3 once they come out but looking at the drop in units for jap i get the feeling that it will be delayed for us eu gamers.

Correct!

Wii is the weakest of all consoles, it's basically a super gamecube, abit more than the original xbox 1's specs!

Yet, at the same time, look at the fuss here with people. I have 2 friends that want a wii more than either of the other 2 consoles, because of the inovation of the controllers and the other things of the system! Do I want one? I will be honest :

1 360
2 PS3
3 Wii

Thats my order of likings, but for all I know, I could end up hating the 360, or loving the wii more than any others, or thinking the PS3 is awesome!

The 360 VS PS3 debate has raged on CONSTANTLY for months. Basically, they are almost the same, in terms of power. THe one thing they have on their side: 360 = easier (cheaper) to program for, PS3 = Blu Ray.

Which console is the best? God knows. I have no doubt though, that in just 15 days time, I will be jumping for joy at Gears Of War. and 12 months after that? I will probablly be doing the same for MGS4. Will I wait those 12 months though, without playing or buying a 360? HELL NO.

I will love my 360 forever I think. When fable 2 comes out, I will literally cry for joy if what they said they want to do with it happens. I am a gamer first and foremost, thats what everyone should be. Not a "PS3 owns" or a "360 beats everything with a stick"

Couldn't agree more. At Christmas the Xbox360 will probably have the strongest 12 month games catalogue EVER seen on consoles. And at the price it's a bargain. It also has unified online support for multiplayer, a tried and tested (and successful) marketplace for downloading demos/trailers/add-ons etc... It also has the Xbox Live Arcade for playing classic games (Doom, Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat 3 anyone?!). I also think the Xbox360 has the best controller of the lot and it also has WMV support which is a huge bonus (if only DivX/Xvid was to be added).

I don't think you will be seeing any AAA titles on the PS3 for a long time after launch (this time next year for the first - if you're lucky). Whilst the PS3 won't be a bad console I just feel the Xbox360 has the stronger line-up of games, what looks to be a better online service and it's cheaper (the console - not online).

To play online you will only need a Router. If you buy a wireless one and buy the wireless adapter for the Xbox360 you can play games wirelessly over the Internet. You won't need a second line.
 
Wii is aimed at a seperate and totally different market. Nintendo have aimed at the games themselves and gameplay, rather than graphics. This has really made the console 1/2 a generation behind PS3 & 360, but by no means a bad thing as it's 1/3 the price of PS3.

"Power" between 360 and PS3 is hard to gauge, and even harder to explain (especially if you have only limited technical knowledge). In laymans terms, it looks like the PS3 cpu may be more powerful (but harder to program) than the 360's. However, it also looks like the 360 graphics chip may be more powerful (but harder to program) than the PS3's. The problem in comparing is that both systems (and their components) work fundamentally in a very different way, with very differing architectures.

Clearly you know very little about this subject. It seems every time we have one of these threads we get yet another "PS3 Will be the greatest ever" poster.

The PS3 and 360 are comparably even matched in terms of performance. In some areas the 360 is better in others the PS3.

Do not listen to Sony they are liars. This has been proven umpteen times over the last 12 years.

The PS3 was supposed to be launched in Japan Spring 2006 and they had no intentions of moving the schedule... But as it turned out they had not even started production until about 2 months ago. So how they even thought that they would get a Launch in spring this year is beyond me.

Then their was the 100k Japan 400k North America statement. followed up by "Don't worry Japan we have our production line up and running we will have more consoles for you even before we launch in the US. ... But wait... They now are not even meeting their own stated quota (despite have this brilliant production line)..

Anyone that believes a word Sony says is an Idiot FACT!

Wait till the console is here and then make a judgement because before that happens you are chatting out of your arse. (not aimed at anyone in particular)

I keep thinking about buying one but then i'll probably spend all me money on games and then have nothing for PS3 :(

The difference between the PS2 and 360 is huge. From a graphics point of view, you'll want an HDTV to get the best out of it, however I only have an SDTV and the graphics step is still pretty big. The 360s dashboard is packed full of features, so it doubles up as a media centre as well.

As for the prices, have a look around the forums, you'll be able to get hold of a Premium for less than 250. I'd recommend against a Japanese console as I don't think all games are region free.

Exactly. If you really think after 12 months the 360 has been ok, but not as good as you want... then trade it. You will lose money sure, but at the least you will have something to entertain you.

I bet you though, if you add some OCUK'ers to your Live friends list, and shoot a few of them in the head in Gears Of War, that trading in will be the last thing on your mind.

think of it this way even if the ps3 was way more powerful than 360 its not gonna make much difference because only the exclusive games are going to maximise its potential. how many exclusives do ps3 actually have at the minute i mean a lot of the must haves are multi format cod3 ,assasins creed,gta, jericho all multi format and capco have declared there only making multi format aswell so there be no more impressive on ps3 than on 360 so unless you really want the few exclusives that ps3 go for 360 least then you'llget games like gow and bioshock and lost odyssey.
