Which console?

So it would be Jap PS3 release then PAL PS3 release and then the 360 ported release later.

is it not japan for ps3 then the rest on ps3/360

360, for Jeff Minter's contribution alone makes it more worthy of your cash.

please.... no.....

It will probarbly die at some point, it sounds like it should be hoovering the floor when running

a sound i don't recall hearing from any of my 360's

thanks people,

i think i'll go for the ps3 when there are some decent bundle offers in :)

as i said in an earlier post, it was really your only option.

but can you afford to miss out on a £129 gaming system with all those AAA games at knock down prices?

Saw this eailier....

Its a rundown of what is included in the 360 and PS3 and what you would have to spend to make them even...

Came out that the PS3 was less expensive after WiFi, XBL, etc...

Are the HDD or HD-DVD required to play games on the 360? No
Are the HDD or Bluray required to play games on the PS3? Yes (I think, are the installs mandatory?)

It's just strange, I would think it would make sense to Have it created on PS3 in Japanese, Translate it for PAL regions. And then port the already translated version over to 360 worldwide.

Both consoles are great value for money though. Yeah the PS3 is expensive, But you're paying for a great bundle.

Same with Xbox 360 though, Great value for money again. It's only when you start purchasing peripherals it starts to look less so. If you don't need them, Excellent.

Shall I be mean and put a nasty notion into the mix?

People who have had a 360 since launch, How much did it cost? Add to that how much it's cost per year since launch for Xbox Live, Total cost to run the console has gone up right?

Ofcourse you may not have live :p

lets not forget the cost of....

1080p HD TV
Sound System
ISP
Line Rental
Price Of Games
Electric Supply

in the scheme of things, LIVE @ £30 a year will not break anyone's bank.

in fact the only time i ever read about the cost of LIVE is when people try to make the PS3 appear to be the better deal.

lol, I was pointing out real things :p

Live is a 360 specific purchase is it not.

So consider the price of a 360, Add on live at 30 a year, how long have you owned it, let's say 3 years, That's £90 on top of what the console cost you int eh beginning. Where as once you purchase the PS3 you have no PSN to pay for, So no added cost.

My point is a genuine one, Realistic debates are welcome :p

There's been nothing realistic about this 'debate', just people trying to trump their favourite console as the more valuable one.

This is nothing to do with a favourite, As I don't have one. This is more about bringing into question things that have been forgotten, For instance, The live price tag being cumulative.

Maybe this has turned into a thread about which console is more valuable. But what's the harm aslong as people don't start being stupid.

Yeah, but surely you can see that Live is a valid inclusion. Where as yours was just being pedantic. ;)

nope....

if it's valid to count LIVE at the 10 or so p it cost's per day, it has to be valid to include everything that get's you to the stage of using it.

taking the expense of all the things you need to get the most out of both systems, is that 10p worth fusing over? i have a PS3 and i'm not thinking.... WOW, i'd be saving 10p a day if i stopped playing on LIVE.

but apparantly, some are suffering because of it. each to his own i suppose.

i would pay 10p a day for psn to be as good as live
i dont count live as added expense just like i dont count having to buy games as an added expense

Again, This isnt about NOT paying for PSN.

It's simply a fact, You are paying 10p a day, Over the life time of the console.

from the day you buy a 360, If you have live, the total payout is ever increasing.

Surely that's valid. Again, what I'm saying isn't me trying to make the PS3 sound MORE appealing, Because it's not Live is better than PSn. And I happily pay for the service, and as the stig said, If PSN had to cost and the service equaled that of Xbox Live I would do so willingly.

That doesn't change the fact that, The console is costing you more and more each day you own it. And it may be worth factoring that into the equation.

Its not live that puts me off getting another 360 its the add ons wireless and charge kits tho i think il pick up one up by xmas

of course at 10p or so a day the 360 is costing more, but as you yourself say "I happily pay for the service" and because of those few words, it can't be factored in. it can only be factoured in if and when it would make a difference.

okay so i buy an arcade for £129, connect to Live and sign up. how long before the money spent on LIVE reaches the difference that the cost of the new PS3 i bought on the same day cost me? in real terms would i be saving money on the 360 for the next 3 years or so against the free PSN?

Well, If you were to buy an Arcade machine + Xbox Live, You would indeed save money over the PS3 and free PSN.

But, And again, This is all dependant on preference.

You could add to this a Play and Charge kit, a 1 off extra payment, Or you could buy AA rechargable batteries.

I'm just looking at costs that you need to pay that's all, rather than pitting the 360 against anything.

Live and Batteries/charge kit, are 2 purchases after the 360 purchase that are required, and should be factored in I believe. :)

Still cheaper than a PS3 like :p

You are actually paying for a service though, you aren't paying for nothing, you aren't paying for the console, you're paying for Live.

It's a good question...

I've spend a fortune on my 360 since launch.

Bought a Core + HD + wireless controller at launch for probably close to £300? No idea now.
Then sold my set up to my hard up bro-in-law for £150 and upgraded to an Elite for £299.
Bought 2 extra wireless controllers for c£30 each. One was Pink.. lol

Never needed a wireless nic and used my exisiting uniross charger for batteries though I have bought a couple more packs of 2700's. I had one years XBL from a cheap PGR2 pack in bought early on, one year came with a camera pack for £50 all in and I think I may have bought a card for the other year; can't remember!

If I'd bought a PS3 at launch it would have cost me £400? Then I'd have bought a HDMI cable, 2nd six-axis controller then I would have bought 2 new dual shocks when they came out and I'd probably have stuck a new HD in. I'd also probably have subscribed to Qore. That all adds up too.

In the end we could argue to death that the 360 experience coudl add up to much more than the £130 incl. game deals going around now but no one can really argue that many of the things we're arguing over are optional extras.
