Which console?

The PS3 has an equal amount of memory to the 360. The rest of your arguments are subjective. Sales are picking up and there are plenty of games out for the system. Not as much as the 360 obviously, but more than enough that anybody buying the system would be very happy with it. 'What if what if' and 'when in the future' aren't very good arguments.

yes but its not used in the same way and we all know that
from the games the person has listed they can be had on 360 so why spend extra on a ps3 when the 360 can do those games and probably better
only gran turismo he will miss but forza and race pro can make up for missing that
the ps3 is ok as a 2nd machine but if your a gamer then you really need a 360 first

I believe Life without a PS3 is easier than life without a 360 at the moment.

Never owning either console, Would mean the must play games on 360 out weigh the games on PS3 in a staggering way.

Gears, Bioshock, Assassins, Mass Effect, lost Odyssey being the one that pop straight into my head.

MGS4 and Uncharted are the only real games that spring to mind on PS3. Don't get me wrong, I love PS3, and there are lots of great games, But current catalogue in mind, 360 offers lots more.

If the OP was interested in Bluray more, Then the choice would be a little harder.

Considering he's not, 360 all the way.

But you'll regret it, Due to not being able to play MGS4, Little Big planet, Uncharted and Final fantasy 13 :p

You can't win unfortunately with your choice, You're always going to wish something was out on your console.

Personally, since the 360's price has now dropped to the XMas levels, it's financially a very good buy for a lot of people, and you know there are no more immenant price drops for a good few months!

And when the PS3 price drops to something more palettable, possibly next year, then get that as well..

Hell, be cheeky, get a 360 now, then get a PS3 for xmas!..

The problem with the 360 and PS3 is they are both excellent, but different enough to make debating it an endless exercise....

I would say if you are a big Fan of FF then the PS3 is the best choice, not only do we get an exclusive demo, the game is being made from the ground up on the PS3. The 360 version wont be started until the game releases on the PS3 in Japan, the 360 will be a port of the PS3 version so who knows how well it will go, should be ok as PS3-360 works better than the other way round. The only issue i can see SE having is splitting the games into parts for each of the 360's disk and the possible reduction in music/sound/texture quality to keep the amount of Disks required down to a minimum. There is also a "sister" game to FF13, called FFversus13 that is PS3 only.

if buying just to play ff then really better to keep your money as it wont be release here for ages by which time you will probably get the ps3 cheaper and with a bigger hdd as they seem to increase that every 2 months
but even then its coming out on 360 at same time over here so the ps3 really is not worth the extra cash just for a demo i dont think
ffversus will be out in 2015 so would not worry too much about that as a selling point :p

I still have to say I disagree with that Final Fantasy 13 timeline. I don't see why they would sit on it while its redeveloped for the 360.

I can see it being released in Japan, Translated and released in English for PS3, and then ported to 360.

So it would be Jap PS3 release then PAL PS3 release and then the 360 ported release later.

Not that any of thats on topic :p

My PS3 has just been collecting dust for ages now. I occasionally use it as a media centre and was buying a few blu rays, But since Hd DVD,s can be had for £2.99 i have been buying loads of those.
If its a games machine you want then i would go for a 360. It will probarbly die at some point, it sounds like it should be hoovering the floor when running but it does what it says on the tin and its considerably cheaper than a ps3. You could get a 360 and a few games.

My 10p worth

I bought the ps3 two weeks ago, it was mainly for the blu-ray though. So that for me future proofs its advantage longterm.

All the games i'm slightly interested in (Fifa, Grid, Pro Evo, Dirt) are all on the PS3 also so I don't feel I loose out on games either.

As for online play, doubt that will happen much so at least the PS3 is free online.

Its also a media player, plays 99% of everything I throw at it using TVersity. It coverts things on the fly.

Few other things on the plus side......looks nice, easy to change/upgrade harddrive. DVD upscales, seems to be more stable that the 360 imo and I prefer the controllers to the 360's. The 360 might be round for ages yet but I didn't want to spend my £ on something thats out of date (no blu-ray).

But then what do I know....I use the pc more.

Just my 2p.

Saw this eailier....

Its a rundown of what is included in the 360 and PS3 and what you would have to spend to make them even...

Came out that the PS3 was less expensive after WiFi, XBL, etc...

LOL, has that old chesnut been dragged up?

It only adds up if you drag everything into the equation, but if you just want to play HD games, you can get a 60Gb Pro 360 for £170 retail.. Since Live is > PSN, although it costs, at the moment at least you get value for money..

You need to look at what 'you' need, and make a decision...

If you want to play Halo 3 you only have to spend £150. If you want to play Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, you have to spend £320. This is going by typical high street prices. The arguments that one console is more expensive over the other in terms of feature for feature is a ridiculous one to make. Stick to the baseline issues, like the one that matters the most - games!
