Which dishwasher tablets?

Have you checked your water chemistry? Not that I know myself if something is wrong.

The dishwasher isn't asking for salt or rinse aid. The only problem I have with Finish powerballs is that they're not removing tannins - apart from that they're fine.

Oh right, mines 90 on intensive which is what we just leave it on (i figure why would i want anything other than the best clean :p)

Because the 'not best' clean may give the same results but be cheaper, depending on what you've put in it. I doubt there is much difference in running costs though.

Your dishwasher should have a filter in the base of the loading area, you can put the dishes/plates in as filthy as you like and any particles will just get caught in that. You have no chance you will break the machine by loading filthy plates :) Added to this, the water inside these machines runs at near boiling, cleaning the plates first is honestly a waste of time.

Brilliant advice! Love watching people clean stuff before putting it in the dishwasher at our house any left overs go in the bin and the plate then goes straight in the dishwasher whats the point in having one if your still doing most of the work lol

Yep never understand it, as long as you dont leave huge lumps of solids on the plates which will end up just sitting at the bottom anyway then you really should just chuck them straight in :)

Means you don't have to clean out a manky filter as often though (which is a hateful job) :p

Only thing I do apart from removing any leftovers is to soak for a few minutes any plates that have been on the side a bit long and dried up. That way I can use a short/eco cycle and it all comes up clean.

Lidl/Aldi own brand. Work out at 5-6p per wash. Stick in a Dishwasher cleaner every couple of months or so.

Never had an a issue with dirty items after a wash unless it was caused by bad loading.

Always buy a few large boxes of Finish Poweballs, somethink like 96 tablets for £9 (when they are on offer), always do a great job, however last week a glass came out dirty so i may need to run a cleaner through.

Another vote for Lidl. Never had an issue with them. I used to work for Reckitt Benckiser (who make Finish products) and the mark up is truly astronimical yet the formulation of the tablets is the same as the Lidl ones (and many others too). Now, let me think which ones I should go for...

Not sure if Asda still have them but last week boxes of 100 finish all in one tabs were a fiver. Bargain.

However if I don't have those the Aldi Magnum ones

99/100 poor wash results are down to the spray arms not spinning correctly.

Aye, always worth checking the nozzles are clean, I check ours every now and then as standard (a couple of times I've found something blocking one of them).
Also always worth educating the family that if they're putting anything tall in the bottom of the machine to give the top spray arm a spin to make sure it's ok.

We normally use the Aldi own brand ones in the WW house and they tend to work fine :)

Seems a good place to ask.

Rinse aid, are you meant to keep filling it up until the machine will take no more. Does it spread this over multiple washes?

Or do you put in a small amount, once for each load?

I think most of the modern tablets come in versions that include a rinse aid...

I haven't used one in over a decade.

The former, you fill up the riser aid tank in the dishwasher and it dispenses a small amount each wash. But a Werewolf says most modern tablets include rinse aid as well.
