Which Music Player are you using?

I'd rather just read it than look at the pictures, I have all my music sorted by the artist then I just read the songs.

Easier than memorizing album art.

Winamp 2.91 here, which unlike WMP, iTunes etc. I can use plugins to resample which is desirable with the Audigy 2 I have, to avoid its internal resampling.

So you prefer to scroll for ages between the thousands of artists/songs/albums instead of just typing half the name in less than a sec and having found what you are searchign for?
Hell in itunes you actally have to read, in wmp you only have to look the album art, wich is way easier imo.
Wmp also very nicely minimizes to taskbar :)

Someone is clearly bashing iTunes without even having used it... :o

http://www.apple.com/itunes/jukebox/coverflow.html kinda beats any view in WMP, just a tad...oh...and you can minimize iTunes to the taskbar too.

I don't know how people can say foobar2000 is a bad player because it's customizable and flexible. There are different players for different people, some people actually do use all the features of foobar and know how to customize it properly - just cause you can't understand it doesn't mean it's bad. ;)

For lazy/dumb peope there's iTunes, for people who want something more advanced there's foobar. :p

If you firmly belive that then your just being bias

ipods arent function over form? if peopel cant find a folder named "music" on a hard drive then i would hold much hope of them finding anything on an mp3 player, ipod or anythign else lol

I don't know if this feature is new or not but after using the newest version of iTunes I just enabled this mode of browsing:

Pretty neat, I prefer it all text but still.

Foobar for me.

Loads instantly.
Plays songs instantly.
Looks clean and tidy.
Has never once crashed on me.

Why I prefer it over WMP?

WMP takes longer to load, especially for the first time.
Songs don't always play immediately, there's at least a second delay, which for some reason irritates me.
It crashes after a while, which is annoying. Not just with music but videos too. Will just stop and say the program has stopped responding or whatever.
Nice GUI and album cover support but, urm, I don't *look* at music, I listen to it, so it's pointless to me. Much easier to select a song from the list and minimise foobar, or better still, stick it on random and never maximise it again for hours.

I've recently started using Songbird. It seems rather amazing so far, very fully-featured.
I've just installed it. What language are you using with it? English US? I tried to select English UK but Songbird couldn't download some rdf file?

I use iTunes and where I can buy the "plus" version of the song, I can then stick it on my Nokia N95.

It works so why bother with dodgy stuff.

One key problem is Media Librarys, and for that, i found WMP or Foobar the only options.

Got foobar looking fairly neat, WMP is too bloated (music store etc... wtf).

Itunes insists on using THEIR formats, doesnt like FLAC etc.

WMP11 + Extended format support = good
Foobar (if you spend a bit of time) = better (using 3 plugins, i was pleased) to awesome if you have time and patience.

I use my MCE rig predominantly anyway, so tend to stick to MediaPlayerClassic for vids (not a fan of VLC, but have it on reserve for silly formats)

How are / how do you manage librarys in foobar nowadays?

I use foobar with the foo_pod plugin to transfer stuff to my ipod. Just a nice functional layout, and does everything you'd want without much fuss.

well foobar has a basic media library built in. here's a screenshot of it....

or you can use the foo_browser plugin to replicate the itunes browser (a quick bodge to show how it works - yes i realise it looks crap)

however, i prefer none of the above. i don't use any media library functions as my music is sorted by directory structure - i just have a couple of playlists and everything is in order. :)

one thing about foobar i can't live without is cue sheet support. wmp/itunes doesn't even recognise them whereas in foobar it's transparent. the first album above is a single mp3 and a cue sheet but you wouldn't know it. foobar treats it as a normal album.
