I honestly don't know. MS haven't explained that one. I can only assume its because of the way the OS currently works, it has to be connected. I will not be surprised in the slightest however if a patch is issued that will let you remove the Kinect if you want to.

Sadly no one will believe a word they say now, especially after major numpty getting shirty when that guy suggested always on could be removed and he acted like removing it would be a big deal.

They really now cannot launch without kinect being attached because if they back pedal on that too then people will ask why they are paying for a piece of junk they don't want (those that don't want it).

It's going to take a couple of years to get consumer trust back now.

If it can be turned off then why does it have to be connected at all times for the console to work?

i dont think it really could ever be turned off completely. they said that. but then .... they said you can walk in the room and say xbox on. so its still monitoring to some degree... they are having a bit of a pr, marketing disaster. they should stop trying to pull a fast one on people

They said that feature is optional.

I've already said it can turned off, MS have already confirmed this.

i've gone from PS4 to undecided, being that i'm a race game fan and most of my time is playing FM4. at first i was like oooh they're backtracking on the ******** policies but after reading no night racing in FM5 i'm a bit annoyed at that, considering it's in forza horizon. i think not buying any of them prolly atleast for a year which is what i did this gen mostly.

I will pickup a ps4 at somepoint, there's 100s of games I still need to play from the previous sony generations. I'm not sure if its the lack of time, interest or just that games have become so big but I find myself gaming once a fortnight if that unless I make plans or force myself.

I've never owned a microsoft console, so I don't know what I'm missing and don't care about halo or FPS. The first one put me off with its massive control pad which was too big for me to use, there used to be one in the break out area at work which I seen bsod a few times. When it comes to the 360, stories of RROD and breeze blocks to stop discs from being damage was already wild online by the time I was looking at it.

I'm not a playstation fan boy, I just really dislike microsoft as a company but have a love for nintendo games. I've always had a nintendo handheld as a 2nd gaming device, but with the lack of games playing; owning a ipad and iphone. I've just not picked one up since the DS Lite.

Or as everyone on the internet is predicting, patch 1.1 will add all the DRM back they just removed.;)

Still undecided. Don't need or want any of them at the moment. Sony do seem to offer more of what I would want though.

If I do get one it will be after christmas when the initial hype has gone down.
