its working at usb 2.1 speed. tried different ports too inc the asmedia mobo controller ports and same issue. i see demanded current is different on the 2 machines. i got other icybox and orico 2.5 sata to usb enclosures that work at full usb 3 speeds so not sure whats going on here.

this is now sorted. was the cable:

sabrent-nvme.png

getting full 5gig speedish now. cable i replaced it with is still a cheapo no brand one. i suspect its got interference issues or maybe some pins inside it dont connect or something. will invest in a decent branded cable at some point.

some more info for people who get tis sabrent enclosure. dont forget to take off the thermal pad cover otherwise you gonna get higher temps:

smart works on the sabrent enclosure and trim also works when i ran defrag it did trim the drive.

also dunno much about this crappy drive i got, its not even got a controller chip or anything. just a single flash chip on the stick lol:

Cheapo Ebay cable 2 for 5 quid deal 1mtr long.
The 2nd cable is working fine but will invest in a a higher quality one probably get a juicebitz one since i got a few of those in usb 2 speed and they seem decent. Cant be playing 50 quid for a monster cable lol.

Yep 2m and 3m samples of USB C to USB C 3.2 gen2 20Gbps cables being sent to me this week.
thats interesting. do you have any usb a to c cables that can do 10g or more? im after a shorter length one now, 20 or 30cm.

my juicebitz cables arrived today and everything is working flawlessly now. very happy with sabrent enclosure.

No, we don't have that cable. Decided to jump to the head of the tech queue and get the 20Gbps gen 2 cables right from the off.

Glad you're sorted. Look me up another time
i dont have a usb C to C cable in my collection so that is the next one on my list. your website doesnt give any info on the cable specs such as wire gauge used and if its shielded etc. would be good to have those specs.

Very odd. The realtek chipset is supposed to be the best one compared to jmicron and phsion. Did you manage to try it on different computers? Odd it works fine for me on every machine iv tried so far

iv got another one of these orico enclosures using the realtek 9210b chipset, made sure to get the b version this time so it can do sata and nvme m.2 drives. i made sure to update the firmware and its going great. i dont get how usb c to c gives you issues but A to C doesnt. unless the C to C is going 10g speed and your getting some issues there. @darael whats the firmware version your enclosure is on?
