DP I agree carbs are important, but protein (amino acids) is also vital in repairing your muscles - carbs and protein together actually work best owing to the insulin spike acting as a catalyst for muscle repair - it's an anabolic hormone after all.
That said there is no anabolic window, or catabolism window after a workout. Sure, Cortisol is produces which is catabolic, but gluconeogensis is a slow process - waiting an hour or two for a meal won't do you any harm. That said, if you're struggling to get your nutrition right through regular diets, shakes etc... are an easy fix. However, I'd still recommend trying to sort your lifestyle/diet out first.
