I'm trying to play with a variety of characters but I always end up back at Ryu but i feel like i'm being a bit boring by doing so... i mean, it seems everyone likes using him - I would switch to ken to be just a wee bit different (and he has that nice firey uppercut and a better ultra) but he just aint as cool :p

which character do you favour?
 
Not surprising anyone would stay with Ryu, Ken or Akuma since they are so easy to master and you could NEVER forget how to do their special moves. Its become the standard command inputs for pretty much any fighting game out there.

My personal preference is either Chun-Li, Fei-Long or Cammy.
 
Blanka, Guile, Gouken and Akuma. In that order of frequency.

Ryu has arguably the best Ultra in the game too and kens is pretty poor.
 
haha pretty sure ken is more popular than ryu :p

none of them are easy to master either, easy to learn maybe... especially ryu.
 
I'm a street fighter noob. The only experience I have is about a month of playing sf2 hd on the 360 then moving on to sf4.

My housemate has been playing from the beginning and I guess is quite a skilled player with most characters, so has been training me up :D

Akuma is definitely my most used character, it makes me sad that people just spam fireballs online, I really like him because he's the first character who (to me at least) has a really exciting range of moves, I love his teleport, and air fireballs, not for spamming, but for tactics, I think they're great moves that set him apart from other guys.

That being said though, I can definitely admire someone who can use Dhalsim's teleport/air moves, Chun-Li's complex kick combos etc so I'm aware there's a hell of a lot of life in this game yet :)

I think I'll stickwith Akuma for the time being, I'm trying to get my head around focus attack dodge cancels at the moment and they're doing my head in!
 
Abel

Have been experimenting with Gouken and Cammy but i think Abel just matches my play style. I may swear at his lack of anti air, but then i guess they all have their weaknesses.
 
Balrog, might try maining Ryu or Sagat when I get better with them but Sagat is so slow it puts me off a lot.

Sagat play style is also kinda boring, it's all about keeping distance with tiger shots and then blocking jump ins, his mid-range game is poor though so a lot of the time you just end up praying your enemy is gonna jump so you can punish them for it, I'm gonna stick with him a bit longer but I have to say I'm finding him kinda dull.

Would like to play some Guile Vs Guile against you sometime Kreeeee. You up for that tonight perhaps?

And to answer the topic question: Guile player here (with some Blanka, Ken, Ryu, ChunLi thrown in for good measure).
 
I pretty much only use Chun-Li. Just haven't had much spare time recently to play too much and it shows when I play online. :D
 
I play as Ryu but I'm also trying to work on playing Sakura and Sagat as 2nd characters as they have different strengths (sakura is faster/sagat stronger) but similar move sets, so I'd hope to be able to switch between them depending on my opponents.
 
I Play as Blanka initially and if i have to Ryu

but online Blanka all the way. good set of moves to duck under fireballs / go through them and generally i find people dont know how to deal with him.
 
I immediately went for Sagat, as I find charge characters a nightmare on the pad and I was deperate to avoid the cliche of being Ken or Ryu.
Once I get an arcade stick sorted, I'll be getting to grips will my one true SF character; Guile :D
