Which small dog?

How about a Jack Russell Chihuahua hybrid?

Would say cross but the price tag is bigger :-)

We have one and he is fab!

Looks like Papi from the film Beverly Hills Chihuahua if it helps to visualise.

update.... we're going tomorrow to see a Jug. Thats a jack russell pug cross.

Its a male, and looks like this, just a bit lighter

Awwwww!! How cute is that! Nice choice Paul. Looking forward to the photos.

I use E&L for insurance due to the amount of cover they give (£4500) per year compared to some companies who will only give you upto £2000, I would check tho as some companies will offer to pay everything upfront instead of you claiming everything back.

Looks nice, but are you sure you don't want to go the Beagle route? Here's my little boy Biggles the day we got him:

Your list of purchases looks good, but get yourself some spray for cleaning up little mishaps - "Wash & Get Off" is good because it kills the odour and helps prevent repeat occurrences.

Regarding insurance, pay attention to things like yearly/lifetime caps when you're choosing. We went with M&S for both of our dogs and it's been good so far - also has a 24hr helpline manned by vet nurses.

Pug™ - Official dog of the intarnets.

Excellent family pets. Buy one, and if you don't like it, I'll happily take it off you. :D

Too Cute! Your right though you can never have enough pugs.....Here are my two!

Well we got our new puppy....

His name is Jigs... short for Jiggles.

Reason being is he's a Jug (jack russell cross pug) and jugs jiggle lol

Nice dog.

Add to your list:
guillotine nail clippers.

Put bed in cage/crate so that he knows that it's his safe place and can wander in and out until you want to close him up; He will get used to it then.

Don't know if you know anything about training or not so excuse me if you are experienced.

Never hit your dog, a sharp NO! when needed and only when immediate/caught red handed; train him/her by rewards ..... like us, they respond much better when praised/rewarded than scolded/punished.

Boredom is the cause of most damage; exercise (not too much when young) and stimulation (training/play) = healthy mind and body. Look out for elec' cable chewing as he could end up gone in a flash.

Enjoy your dog and try to become a responsible/liked owner who neighbours and the public welcome rather than shun.

Good luck and kind regards.

Awww that is cute! I've never seen one of those before. In Aus they have Pugiliers which were the the cross between a pug and a cavalier.

Is she being well behaved? Cover your house in tons of newspaper!!!

Good luck with Jigs :-)

Hehe thanks. He's not doing too bad. Likes playing fetch and it learning to drop things on command. He had a bit of a nibble on my headphone wires this morning tho! grrr lol.

He hates pooh bears too! We've given one and he loves killig it over and over lol

Very good advice there, oh and he looks like a right fun little fella.

Regarding pet insurance, try Animal Friends, good prices and offer lifetime cover for any ongoing condition. See:- http://www.animalfriends.org.uk/
