In a couple of weeks I'll have about £80 to spend on an SSD but I'm unsure which to get.

Any suggestions please? I have no idea what to get. Should I go to the MM and get more for my ££?

Im sure other ssd's are perfectly fine as well, but I have an M4 and you wont be dissapointed with it, thats for sure.

It comes highly recommended by the entire forum, so you cant go wrong.

Sandisk Extreme 120GB SATA III, that's what I've ordered, don't like to jump onto the hype of other supposedly better SSDs. M4 specs vs the Extreme yet they have the cheek to make it cost £15 more

It's not the same price everywhere, and it has 8GB more space.

Just 'Youtubed' Crucial M4 vs Sandisk Extreme and found this:
Sandisk beat it in boot time by a second.

Yes, a very accurate result by a 'youtube' user. Not even repeated 3 times to rule out anomalies.

do people recommend the M4 over the Corsair GT 120gb?

Can someone link me to one? thanks

As i was looking to buy the GT

kh85 i have both, either one would be fine, they boot up just as quick, the gt comes with a mounting bracket though,no issues whatsoever with either drive

We're talking about www.overclockers.co.uk in terms of price hence the title 'Overclockers UK'. I was just showing a quick demonstration of the minimal difference not not even including anything to do with over double the write time the Sandisk has.

From your post it comes across that you are blaming Crucial for OcUK having the M4 £15 more than the Sandisk SSD, something in which they have no control over.

That 1 second difference in the YouTube video isn't proof enough that the SanDisk is better. The guy was running it on a personal laptop and each boot there could be different tasks that run or load up causing different amounts of files to load.

Plus like I said it wasn't even a repeated test just to make sure it wasn't just a 'one off'.

Write time for SSD's isn't as important as the read speeds. The M4 isn't significantly atrocious in write speeds that it's worth mentioning and I don't know anyone who is buying an SSD with fast write speeds for the express purpose of being able to install their programs/games faster.

If you plan on using the SSD as a scratch disk then maybe it might be better but most are buying it for being an OS drive or a secondary games drive.

M4 and 830 are both great (non-Sandforce) drives. Samsung comes with a few extras, and faster write speeds, otherwise there's little in it.

128gb 830 is £9 cheaper on TWO, which would swing it for me. But that could change at 9am tomorrow.
