Which TV Series?

The Shield is the best cop show ever made
Dexter is one of the best shows of recent years
The Wire is also a very good cop show

I definitely recommend Battlestar Galactica - the fourth and final season has gotten off to great start :D

Prison Break is good, the first season in particular but its pretty drawn out now in season 3 ...

Am just watching the Sarah Connor Chronicles myself and enjoying - shame this part of the season on had 9 episodes (anyone know when its gunna continue?)

Firefly

I like it A LOT more than all the other shows I watch:

Heroes, The Wire, Dexter, House, 24, Prison Break, The Shield, The Sopranos, Lost.

Firefly is just more likable than all of them.

Got to agree with the comments regarding Firefly ... the characters are so well portrayed and the stories are so down to earth, with each one containing some things you can at least associate with.

A real real shame that it was never picked up again - Joss Whedon would have done a great job continuing it.

Just seen the first episode of this, my good it was terrible and judging by the preview of the next episode it's going to get worse. Bad recommendation

That's not a preview of the next episode. You actually need to watch a few to get into it. It's very, very quick. It's actually relentless in the amount of jokes it contains. I recently watched the whole lot for a 2nd time and managed to pick up on something I had never noticed before, on every episode. It was genius.

I have to admit I did wonder whether i should dismiss it so soon, I thought the first couple of West Wings were poor but after sticking with that, it became one of my favourite series. I just can't help feeling AD is far too immature and FAR too americany* for my tastes. I might give it 1 or 2 more episodes and report back.

*not a real word but i think you can tell what i mean.

Here's my 2 cents..

Best Sci-fi: Babylon 5
Best Cop Show: The Wire / The Shield
Best Crime: Sopranos
Best Prison: OZ...forget that tired pre-watershed Prison Break nonsense
Best Fantasy: Lost
Best Reality: So You Think You Can Dance...awesome if you like dance of any kind.
Best Animated: Futurama...followed closely by Family Guy

The Unit
House
X Files ( just nearly completed watching them all again)

Will I try with - CSI (theres many to choose from)
Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (had to put that in)

You clearly don't know what you are talking about (seeing as the preview of the next episode is a massive running-joke in itself)

If you don't mind a bit of a spoiler:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Development_Arrested

Go and just quickly scroll through that page, and look at how many running jokes/in-jokes, references etc are written into each episode....

Chances are most of the jokes are going over your head...

It's an incredibly well written and hilariously funny show.

See I'd say it's not Americany at all. I think the fact that it didn't have great ratings in America is a testament to that. The humour is very British. It's not as in your face as American humour is. It's very understated and as I said, completely ******* relentless with the speed in which it just throws jokes at you and it just gets even more so as the series goes on, with many in-jokes, call backs, running gags and even bringing elements into it that you don't pick up on for a few episodes. It was just so fabulously complex, utterly ridiculous and bloody hilarious.
