I was just wondering what people's thoughts were on which party in the election was most 'motorist friendly'. To be honest I've only seen bad things from the current mob, namely things like the following:
- Ridiculous increases in car tax
- Ridiculous increases in petrol prices
- The end of free car tax for cars over 25 years old (Labour stopped this from rolling over each year and stuck it at 1973)
- SORN
- Scrappage, the hideous waste of perfectly good vehicles just 10 years old
- Expensive photo licenses
Obviously it's easy to moan about the party who are currently in power, but I really don't remember it being that bad under the tories under whom I drove for about 7 years - they were the ones who brought in the 25 year old free tax law for example meaning my old mk1 Escort was a lot cheaper to run as a student.
What do you guys think? Does anyone know what policies each party will be offereing for the motorist?
tbh I'd prefer if trolls like stockhausen stayed out of the thread and the discussion didn't degenerate into a huge argument.
