Which Wax?

I used that last weekend too, without waxing it prior. Gave fantastic results and the water beaded quite nicely. Then i went to my dealers for its MOT and they left it somewhere where it got filthy  . Sunday = 4 hours of washing and waxing and all ruined by monday afternoon. Gutted.
Going to grab some Collinite also, it is highly recommended pretty much everywhere.

No wonder it streaked then you bought the wrong stuff.

The streaking wasnt the thing that bothered me so much, the fact the spray went everywhere and left white spray residue all over the windows which took time to fully clean off etc.

tbh, the fact its a spray is the problem the wax tends to mist off onto the windows etc leaving things fairly messy. Took a while to fully buff in aswell perhaps i used to much?

Harly Wax. Got a recommedation off this forum and acted on it. This is an absolute gem of a product with only one draw back. After seeing how shiny my cars are and how durable it is all my friends and family are begging me to do their cars. :(

I think that your choice of polish/wax/etc depends on the condition of your paintwork, the colour and how much time/money you're prepared to spend.

It's impossible to say x wax is the best wax as it may work well on immaculate, black cars but no almost nothing on a shabby silver car.

Absolutely true, I'm currently using a carnuba topper that's designed for dark colours but on my VW silver enhances the gloss, wetness and metalic flake no end (This only happens truely after it's 1st wash)

I currently use:
1. AG Super Resin Polish, as it's a good cleaner, hides fine marks well
2. Megs NXT paste wax, does a good job of sealing. But about to change to Poorboy's EX-P
3. Pinnacle Souveran hard carnuba wax, this is one of the best products I've ever bought, (although it is £40 a tub!)

All done through trial and error over the years. When I change car, I'll find that this is possibly no longer the best combo and will experiment again!

I use swissol saphir, I have used best of show before and I can't tell the difference between the two.
When I used onyx it wasn't as smooth nor was it as long lasting.

Used on a B5 passat and an E90 330d, brilliant finish every time.

This is my combo:-

Poorboy's Polish with Carnuba Blue
JEFFS Werkstatt Acrylic Jett Trigger
P21s Concours Look Carnuba Wax

Fantastic results. And the wax is a summer one really, as it does not last as long as some others. i.e. collinite.

But I must say it's the easiest wax ever to put on and take off, even in brilliant sunshine.

Maybe too much, its fairly hard to tell to be fair. I didnt put a lot on, maybe 3-4 squirts for a small panel such as the wings, and more for bonnets and roof. I was amazed at how easy it was to get on and off, and like i said, the results were pretty good, although i don't think the wax will last. Have one of the Collinite kits on order with the 476 wax. Will give it a proper going over next week.

How long did you leave the wax before buffing?

Not long at all. It says to wait till it is a haze and then buff off. I did one panel at a time and then within a minute it looked ready to come off. Used a seperate micro-fibre cloth for this.

Yea same i used a Cotton polishing cloth to buff the wax, gone out today and im still finding bits of the dry wax on the car not buffed in fully and white haze still on the car, still will come off whenever it rains or i next clean it

Sounds like you used too much and or did it when it was too hot.

Well, I've just spent a couple of hours giving the MGF a good clean. Washed it, PC'd it with Poorboys SSR2.5, polished it with Autoglym Super Resin and waxed it with Nattys Blue wax. Looks 100x better than it did before (I think the previous owner had left it under a tree for 10 years, paintwork was a right mess)

I'll see if I can get some pics later (not that they'll be any good, white cars don't exactly look good when polished anyway)

White and silver are a nightmare, as is black as it takes ages to correct :(

One thing i find now, is to apply the wax by hand, ie your palms  its the best way of putting it, you get the right amount one, ie nice thin coats, and easy to buff off!

I gotta say the PC is my best purchase ever, its cut my polishing time in half! i managed to clay, swirl correct, polish and wax in around 3.5 hours, granted its a small car, but it needed decent amounts of correction (about 85% achieved!).Very impressed.

8 hours later and I've nearly finished :p

Managed to do Wash, Claybar, 2x SRP, 1xEGP, 1xExterior Glass Polish and 1xCollinite with the interior and bits of trim to do tommorrow..

.. oh thats on both E39's. Two cars = twice as hard work :(

Might post pics might not, cba with the backlash I get anyway so you may have to take my word for it when I say the green one looks shiney and the silver one looks... like it did before I started ;)
