Opera for me and for the past 10 years since it was available free (ad supported) with IE as backup for sites which still need it. Although just started using Chrome and am impressed with it.

Why is FF overkill to you? The bog standard install of FF is just like IE feature wise.

I think most people use FF because of the plugins. Adblock, noscript and few others make web browsing a pleasant experience.

Therefore, if you don't use the extra features, what's the point of having FF over IE? I'm fairly sure IE8 is more secure under W7 than FF, so if you're not going to use FF's features, there's no point in having it?

And yes, I can see where the addons would be very useful but adverts really don't bother me at all.

Google Chrome with Adblock here.

Although, I do have to use IE8 to remote view internal security cameras.

Chrome for standard browsing - fast, easy, nice interface. Simple features like the ability to resize textarea input fields are great for normal use.
Firefox for web development, for the firebug extension alone. Couldn't work without it!
IE for sites which don't work on the above (eg. old company intranet).

Recent versions of FF very slow and memory-hungry, which is why I switched to Chrome for normal browsing and haven't regretted it.

Fair enough to those "what's the point of using anything but IE" users, but for the time it takes to install something else I prefer the question "why settle?"

I was using chrome for about a year, before i used firefox. But since Chrome 4 i have had a lot of hang up/crash problems so i try the new firefox 3.6 and the difference between them is very small.Except i do like chrome's more streamlined UI.

Come on spill the beans :p who was it!

The answer is rather boring I'm afraid because the moderating logs were empty so I'm not sure who created the very first poll and thus, I can't give them a good slap. :(:p

As for which web browser I use; Opera 10.51, which I run as a low integrity process as well as a different user. My favorite part about Opera is the smooth scrolling feature, I love it. :)

Chrome at home, I only go back to FF or IE for very specific tasks like website bug testing. I find FF to be a really ugly browser now and feels very bloated and slow after chrome. IE is just such a joke.
