Whiskey

The keyword there being flavour. It may have originally been made with bourbon, but these days is made with a fairly basic grain spirit.

I bow to your knowledge, my apologies. :o

Cheers, :D

There is an unopened bottle of Jonnie Walker black label which I have been specifically instructed to not open which is quite frustrating. I found that to be quite an agreeable tipple :(

It would be rude to not open it :p

Glenfiddich is not particularly good but is acceptable in an emergency.
Glenmorangie is slightly better but is what I class as a fall back whisky.

If you really like malt whisky, try something like 15yo Balvenie or 15yo Glenlivet - they are two widely available and not too expensive malts and are both very nice (the Balvenie is especially nice).

Morrisons actually do a range of cheapo malts, I tried the Islay version recently and quite liked it - they are pretty cheap and if the others are to the standard that the Islay was, they're good VFM.

If you've got a little money to burn, try an 18yo Glenlivet or a 21yo Balvenie - this has been finished in a port wood cask and is divine. Pretty reasonable price at about £45 a bottle too.

Mmmmmmmmmmm, Whisky ;)

Stan :)

Recommend one of those and I'll try it...

By the end of the bottle you will wonder what this thread was all about :D

I dunno... I'm convinced I'm gonna be tasting this in reverse...!

Might have to go and get something half decent from the cellar....

Although.. just one more tipple....

This is going to turn into a watch me get hammered thread isn't it.

Email me the rest of the bottle then.

It'll go down well with my White Lightning and Chav Super. ;)

just doing the usual line the empty beer cans up on the window sill (that really annoys the missus :)

i quite like the glenfiddich caoran reserve, but normally id go for a macallan.

i always thought southern comfort was a peach flavoured bourbon

Well I think I have admit defeat guys. It aint nice, although it has left me unsober....

Mental note made. Glenfiddich Special Reserve aged 12yrs (barcode no. 5010327307244 :D) is in my little black book of things to drink if you want to throw up.

I'm tempted to switch to beer to wash the taste away....

I think it depends on the brand, we had this discussion a while back and think I had a Scottish malt that was spelled Whiskey, but as a general rule it's the Irish ones that are with an 'e'. I've always known the Scottish ones to be just 'y' at the end.

Definitely the 21yo Balvenie.

It is extremely smooth with hints of nuts and fruit and a tiny taste of toffee.

An excellently rounded whisky which should satisfy most whisky drinker's tastes - I love it.

Any idea from where? Asda doens't look like it has it...

Which ever one you choose, take it with a little water; the way it is supposed to be drunk, according to the distillers who make it. ;)
