Whiskey

My collection currently stands at:

Talisker 10 yr
Glenmorangie Burgundy Wood Finish
The Balvenie Doublewood 12 yr
Tormore 12 yr
Glenfiddich 21 yr

Don't ask me to pick a favourite though, I like each of them for different reasons :)

I have some fond memories of a bottle of Oban and some good company at a hotel in the Ribble Valley.

Well I can remember the first 3-4 hours anyway ;)

I usually drink whisky with a drop of cold water btw.

Argh dont add cold water! Warm water is ok :D

You need warmth for the flavours and aroma to release. Adding cold water takes these away! It's why I laugh at people who chuck ice cubes into Whisky.

I can see that that a warmer water could help release the vapours but I do prefer the water to be cold, not chilled, just cold.

Hmmm, I suppose a drop would do no harm... but I'm keeping my eye on you... you might turn funny and go for the ice cubes!

I win:

My dad just brought a bottle of this back from Skipol, best whisk(e)y we have EVER had, by FAR. Seriously worth trying if you haven't already.

Ladies and Gents, I present to you:

Ice cubes? Never! besides I'd only choke on them as I knocked it back :p

The Balvenie is a nice one, very peaty. Just opened a 15yo bottle of Dalwhinnie and it's utterly shweeet. Chocolatey aroma and soft on the palate. Most well-behaved 15-year-old I've ever met.

On the recommendation of this thread I asked my Bro for a bottle of the Balvennie double wood for Christmas. The I found myself in Majestic before Christmas (where you have to buy a minimum of 12 bottles) and strangely found myself with only 11 bottles, and the Balvennie was on special offer (£20.99) so it found itself in my basket. On Christmas Eve I insisted that my 5 year old pour out a stiff one for Santa and boy did he enjoy it. I know have two bottles (or at least one and a half bottles) of the stuff and boy is it good. I've beenn drinking it with a couple of bits of ice then a little water and left for a few minutes to warm up - delicious.

Thank you to those in this thread for pointing it out to me :)

After reading this thread, I thought I'd try a decent bottle of Whiskey. I'm not much the whiskey drinker, maybe once every now and then.

Went out and picked up a bottle of Johnnie Walker Green Label for the decent sum of £22. Doesn't taste too bad, not something I could drink on an often basis, but definitely nice.

Although, Gold label + dash of Coke is divine :)

Laphroaig, I heard someone mention this.

By gum its good stuff mate out of pete bog somewhere off north of scotland or one of them islands they got up there. You can smell the pete bog in the whiskey aswell definatly an aquired taste but does go in the damned good catergory for drinks

My favourite whisky. Damn its good. If you find it a little strong at a little mineral water. Certainly no ice.
Very, veyr tasty.

Currently got Highland Park and Glenlivet on my desk , both single malts.

I like highland park , i also like the fact that i can get a bottle of 12 year old for £12 and a bottle of 15 year old for £14. As my sisters fiancée works for a whisky company as a cooper
