Demo Ranch

The one guy I tried and didn't like is backyardscientist, his 'experiments' follow no scientific process whatsoever and he isn't entertaining enough to make a good show without any actually interesting science stuff.

Cars:

Motor Trend
Bad Obsession Motorsport (a video every couple of months, but they're excellent)
Might Car Mods
Visioracer (list-style compilations of snippets that can be interesting, such as cars refitted with a very different engine to the one they came with).
Tom's Turbo Garage

Comedy:

Bad Lip Reading. Funniest thing on Youtube in my opinion.
Tom Scott (Citation Needed videos - hilarious comedy quiz show)
Shoddycast (the "Science!" videos analysing how realistic various things in various games are, which is usually not at all. NSFW due to swearing.)
Smosh Games (particularly the "Honest Game Trailers" videos).

I watch Shmee150 and some of his chums. He lost me a bit recently with his rant about all the hate he gets off certain people and the sheer amount of money he spends on these cars which he claims he makes out of his you tubing activities as well as that Boosted Boris rubbish.

For such a clever guy you would think he would realise that "haters are going to hate" and get on with making good content.

The kid is bankrolled by his parents. He might make enough from youtube to insure the car....just.

Know of one of these "youtube/instagram" celebrities IRL (don't know them personally but friend of friend) and their parents are very well off and effectively bank rolled it initially but now they make enough through the whole media thing to fund the lifestyle (I'm not sure for how long though doesn't look long term sustainable to me). Can't say the lifestyle of spending every few weeks in a different part of the world, driving the latest cars, their own luxury boat, etc. really appeals to me but at the same time not completely without a bit of jealousy.

Seems to be quite complex though in terms of monetisation as I mentioned before - some gets lots of hits, etc. but hardly make anything while other with a lot less views seem to make tons of money especially via things like patreon.

Lets see. My favourites in topics I'm interest in:
Cars:
Mr JWW
Salomondrin
Shmee150

RC flight:
RCModelReviews
Joshua Bardwell
Spocktra50 - The only Youtube channel I'd actually pay money to watch, but he doesn't make videos any more. Hillarious, if you fly RC.
Rotor Riot

Mechanical:
AvE
Clickspring

Electrical:
EEVblog
Mikeselectricstuff
Louis Rossman

Science:
Veritasium
Smarter Every Day - I can't believe someone so smart can believe in a god, but I don't hold it against him. It's not his fault hes an American born in the bible belt. He didn't have a chance.

Others:
Ashens - Especially when he's eating old/gross food. Other stuff I can take of leave depending what it is.
Techmoan
Numberphile
Tom Scott - except the "Citation Needed" rubbish he does. How does that suck so bad when the other stuff is so good?
