Thing I can't understand about this whole McLaren thing is he has worked as a number 2 under Jim Smith, Fergie & Sven. The latter whilst he was number one with 'Boro. Why on earth does he need Terry Venables to guide him is beyond me. He should be exeprienced enough with the managers he has worked with to put his own stamp on the role. I can maybe understand someone like Steve Staunton getting Sir Bobby Robson in as he has no managament experience at all.

Looking at the way everyone else has played so far has cheered me up also, i havent seen much else from the top teams to think that we would get battered, especially if we start to gel. The only team i have feared is the argies so far.

I think the topic of the thread would be more appropriate if it asked who believes England 'could' win the world cup. In that line of question, I will answer 'yes' - I believe England can win the world cup, they have a good enough squad, however, Sven's decisions will be a huge factor - he is out of a job after the competiton and has nothing to lose.

Unfortunately think it'll be Argentina this year, but think that England are certainly one of the favourites particularly if Rooney plays at full fitness.

Not a chance in hell tbh, even with Rooney in the side. I have a feeling hes been rushed with regards to his broken foot and i can see him breaking down again if he gets tackled hard. No wonder Fergie is fuming...
Mind you saying all that, it would be nice to see England win but sadly i dont think with Sven in charge they will. If Venables was in charge then maybe just maybe they had a decent chance of winning.
