Who else hates this guy (Gregg Wallace)?

Maybe the forum needs to implement some form of a searching facility, where you can type in keywords and the forum presents you with any threads with those keywords in it. In this case we could use "wallace" for example and see what comes up. Who knows, you might get lucky.
I tried that yesterday but it didn't come up with this one!

I have to admit I have always liked him (only watch professional these days) but reading "some" of the alleged comments, which have revolved around rape, does sicken me and goes way beyond acceptable banter for me.

Seems like it wasn't just him though and it was many of the production team too.

He certainly hasn't helped himself by blaming it all on a handful of middle aged women.

yep bbc news , with it's independant editorial, finding maximum celebrities (in their own lunch time) to say it should be pulled .....so ? we'll have to watch a dam strictly repeat instead, ..
or old episode of little britain ?

No.10 has now weighed in apparently.

However this all pans out, I've a feeling Greg won't be on BBC for some time, which is +ve in my books.

and the way the phrase was delivered is absolutely key, if done in a carry on style with a little smirk and a giggle as so much of his 'banter' is then it is easily to see how some people were offended. I've never really liked his style but until he came out with his response video I didn't think he'd done anything worth more than a slap on the wrist and really all that was highlighted was the incompetency of the BBC in not managing him properly over the years when complaints were made. Could all have been avoided if earlier in the process a strong and decisive message had been delivered that his 'little jokes' were not acceptable and he needed to change his approach, now his career is in ruins and he banged the final nails in the coffin himself with a very poorly judged video yesterday which really makes me question what sort of support network he has in place.
Just for clarity - It was John who made that comment, and I along with a couple of others were wondering why John's allowed to say that kind of thing, yet Greg is being picked up for similar comments.

Well he's just apologised for blaming a handful of middle aged woman by saying he wasn't in a good head space.

At least he's done that but I do think it's much more likely him trying to save his career rather than being genuinely remorseful.

Typical women - he apologises like he was asked to, and even that isn't good enough!

 :D

No 10 wading in.

lol

"Ulrika Jonsson, who claimed she was told that Wallace made a “rape joke” during her time on Celebrity MasterChef, told the Daily Telegraph that she felt Wallace's response showed “the arrogance of a man who has zero introspection or self-awareness”."

RIP Reeves & Mortimer.

(I can't seem to find the ULRIKA KA KA KA KA KA pervert moment on the internet easily. BBC deleting its history :D).

Because of context.

The soggy bottom is obviously a 'risqué' double entendre but was relevant to the conversation about what was being cooked at the time.

Saying to a female colleague I'm not wearing any boxer shorts under my trousers is not.

Does John only make the odd on-air comment like that, whereas Greg makes multiple on and off air comments?

There are so many variables that can make one such comment acceptable and another not, again, it's not to be viewed in isolation.

This thread is 10 yrs old, so there's definitely something been rumbling around the periphery about him for a long time.

Agreed it does all need more cotext. At that point I was discussing the video that was posted further up the thread in isolation ... but it's grown arms and legs, and obviously isn't just that video.

I saw this programme the other day where Ant and/or Dec, covered a woman with offal and live insects and made her eat a marsupial ferret's gonad, and they only paid her £250,000 for doing it! No apology has been issued yet as far as I am aware.
