Who else is enjoying the euros MORE without england?

Im finding it much better personally, I dont have to sit through poor performances and me shouting at stupid mistakes our squad make. Then to see them go behind or to be up winning first half and go to sleep the second.

Its like a giant weight has been lifted and I can enjoy watching it without any added stress!

Been some brilliant games already and a lot more memorable than most england performances

Have to agree entirely.

No maniacal reporting as per most tournaments and the British press are not "making up stories" to sell newspapers. They are bizarrely, just reporting the facts and a balanced review of the other teams' performance, instead of the usual crap and hysteria they try to induce the British public with about any England squad, although of course they will undoubtably report that everyone who manages to kick a ball in the right direction will be playing in the Premiership next year.

It's not really England teams we need out of these competitions, it's the British Press!!.

When will you lot learn England suck at everything, You havn't won the world cup in over 40 years and your not going to any time soon. Same with the Euro's. England are a joke and nobody really gives a crap.

At least we don't go to the lengths of calling ourselves 'World Champions' just for winning the national league. :p

What have the US won?
World Series? Oh wait, no, that's America Only!

Look at the size of England. Now look at the size of everywhere else.
We do bloody well.

first bit might have a point but, Englands really that much smaller than, Germany, Greece, Italy? Because those 3 have won big cups in recent years. Infact France isn't much bigger either, the only "top" teams that would be from bigger countries, would be Brazil and Argentina but again France, italy, germany manage to frequently win cups over these "bigger" countries. We really don't do well in football, at all.

THe British press do put pressure on and essentially pick the English team, but they seem to always pick what the majority of this country believes is the best team. So in essense the country picks the team, and the country is completely wrong, as proven by England being crap.

The press here is awful, but why blame the press, they are lemmings, they don't want to offend so only ever say players the majority wants in should be in the team.

If we ever went with a manager with balls that could pick his own team, we could maybe do ok. Capello has already signaled his complete inabilty to try a new team, his continued wish to waste friendlies completely, the inability to play a balanced team that could work well together and follows all the previous mistakes made. There could be an argument that maybe the manager's chosen aren't picking the teams, maybe its the FA board, or someone who thinks they are great and puts pressure on team selection.

frankly more than a few years ago it was clear Gerrard + Lampard = no balance, completely useless and crap, yet Sven went with it, then McClown, now Capello. Complete and utter joke that our national side turned into.

But I find it funny whoever mentioned we've been crap since we got foreign managers, because we've been so good between '66 and when Sven took charge

Even our other semi succesful years of getting into knockout stages in the cup, we were still always looking like going out, we've never put in 2-3 performances in a cup that made us look likely to win it, we've never looked close to matching the best teams.

The biggest gripe I have with England is that they are useless at keeping possession. Give the ball away consistently to any of the top teams and they will punish you for it eventually. Having said that, the tournament just isn't the same without them.:(

This thread for the loss.

Just because our media & a minority of our fans are stupid - don't take it out on England.

We may not play the most attractive football in the world, but a competition with England in will ALWAYS be better, because I'm an England fan.

End of.

You cant say that peanuts because

1) utd play good football
2) theres no coverage of utds WAGs, theres more emphasis on the women shopping then them playing football
3) I dont see people driving around with UTD flags hanging out of the car
4) Least UTD stand a chance of winning something we are generally useless
5) Utd players play for passion we seem to lack that

I could go on but whats the need :)

Maybe us not being in the Euros will make players think twice now and realise they really do have to work if they want to be in these competitions.

It saddens me tbh, i watched the Austria Poland game in Germany the other night, and it was worst game of football i have ever seen, the Greece game last week wasnt much better, we should have been there instead of some of the shower of ****e ive seen so far.

Interesting how all the usual haters come out in threads like this, no tourny is the same without England, we bring something that no other country can offer, we may be over the top at times, but thats what football is about.

You should see the coverage in Germany, and the flags, they are everywhere, its not just England FFS.The WAG balls was only in crappy papers like the Sun, dont buy the ****ing thing if dont want to read about the WAGs and their antics.

I support one of the smaller nations that doesn't qualify for final tournaments as often, and let me tell you, qualifying and taking part is priceless from this perspective. It makes a huge difference for generations of younger football players who can watch their team compete at the highest level.

Personally I feel any tournament would be better off with England in it, but they just didn't deserve to qualify this time around, it's as simple as that. They had a relatively easy qualifying group (just compare it to Scotland). Qualification should have been no question whatsoever, and it wasn't a matter of losing to Croatia, or losing to Russia away, but slipping up with Macedonia? England? Come on!

What I definitely don't miss is the absolutely retarded media frenzy of expectations that surrounds every one of England's participation to a final tournament. Seriously, 1966 was a long time ago, I'm not saying England can't win it, but they haven't been and won't be favourites to win anything for the foreseeable future, unlike what the media makes it seem.

actually i'm quite enjoying watching croatia in euro 2008. they've been very exciting to watch. on the other hand i don't miss england but i also don't think england players care too much for euro tournament either. they could have qualifed but the coudn't be bothered to play

hopefully its a good sign he's over his injury, finally........................finally :p

Bit sad that Milan seem so intent on Adebayour, and we have no plans to sell him for 30mil, and grab Villa for a similar amount, great business there WEnger :(

EDIT:_ I also guess I'll eat some humble pie in regards to Van Horse Face, to be fair at Man U he never showed the dropping deep interplay side of his game, never had to but the last 2 games he's worked harder than any single game at Man U ever. Going to Real Madrid has really improved his overall game. Does he play in the main upfront position for Real as the way he's playing now would say he plays deeper like Rooney, though I thought he was furthest forward for Real. Either way, very impressed with his workrate.

Totally fella, it'd be nice to have our main striker fit for a normal period of time. I've never considered Adebayor or main man at all though he's fallen into it with injuries and Henry leaving.

I'm very impressed with RvN as well, Real Madrid seems to have done well for his armoury, saying that Beckham looked slightly more complete the first season he went there and Owen deffo added to his game after a brief stint too.

I am enjoying and I'm not that bothered if England are around, England weren't gonna win the competition and they weren't gonna play good football so I'm not that bothered if they are in or not. The bad thing is obviously less media coverage but the good thing is not hearing from the media/fans every other day about how this might be England's year....

Well put. I don't know many people who enjoy watching England play. This isn't a new thing either as we've been consistently quite boring since the days of Venables.
