I think a Supercar is not just performance. There are slow cars that are Supercars (Earlier Ferraris anyone?) and there are very fast cars that would leave a 355 for dead which are not supercars.
It's all about the whole ownership experience - the sense of occasion, the exclusivity, buying into a certain marque, as well as the performance and technical capability of a car.
This is why, IMHO, the Honda NSX, as amazing as it is, is not a supercar. I know thats controversial, but its my opinion. I've never driven one, or even had a ride in one, the closest I got was sitting in one, but it certainly didn't feel as special and 'WHOA, Supercar' as the Ferrari I once sat in. Poor judge, probably, but there we go. The Ferrari felt... special. More than special.
The NSX felt like a Honda. Your gran has a Honda.
But this is where my arguement falls down, becuase the Ford GT is indisputably a supercar yet... your Mum has a Ford..
