Not sure if I am talking crap or not but I am sure a read a certain year of ST's had to be recalled to have a clip or spring replaced/fitted due to something similar to what you are saying. Maybe the same for the Zetec?

The one ford use will be fine. They wouldn't put it there if it wasn't. 
Get pagid, about £155 for the front pair with pagid pads which are about £50.
i have pagid all around and when they are warmed up they are lethal on the ST.
Edit: if you do look into these me sure you are looking at the right ones as everyone seems to bring up £17 pagid disks what are 158mm and for the standard fiesta.

I do 350-400 miles a week with my job and they do fine, they are as good as the standard ST disks with light driving but a lot better under heavy driving (bit of hooning)... track guys swear by them aswell.
Don't get Zetec S wheels on a ST, that's just nasty.

My ST is starting to show signs on the exterior. Laquer is peeling on the passenger side skirt quite bad and a bit of paint fade to a good eye on the passenger side.

Well last week i was deciding whether to 185 mountune my car and this week i have decided to leave my car altogether now. I know, once i have done the Euro trip i will want to sell so no point putting more money into it to lose on it. Guess by time i have done with it around October ill only get 2-2.5k for it.

Yes standard 17" ST alloys. Really in need of a refurb due to curbing and salt getting to the paint.
