Who here owns a Mini?

Our 2014 F46 Mini Cooper's driver side heated seat has stopped working, the three bars come on for three seconds or so and then goes off.

Took it to Mini today and they've said that the heating element in the seat has gone faulty and because it's classed as trim, then our comprehensive Mini warranty doesn't cover it. To me it sounds more electrical...

Anyway they want £500 to fix it, so clearly I'm looking for alternative routes - would be really appreciative if someone could guide me in the right direction. Almost seems worthwhile grabbing another seat off of eBay with a working element.

Give SWSS Mini in Cardiff a call and explain the situation to them. They might be able to suggest or offer an alternative.

I’ve had the heating section of the seat replaced under the extended warranty on a BMW without any issues. I’d call the warranty company and explain the situation it may be the dealer hasn’t attempted a claim.

Great suggestion, thank you - just off of the phone with them and they've expressed their apologies as the retail dealership are in the wrong.

Anyone know the exact lamp type for the F56 with the below LED headlamp?

The manual just says take it to dealer.

Hit courtesy car jackpot with Mini over the weekend, just over 24 hours with this three month old JCW Countryman.

Have lots of thoughts, coming from a previous M135i and M140i which is closest in power with my car history, but a higher centre of gravity this didn't feel quite as sharp. The AWD system however just means you can plant it and go, in any gear, and it stuck like glue to the road.

It's fairly loud too, although a lot of that pumped through the speakers, people on the outside of the car agreed it sounded quite decent. Gearbox was good, I don't believe it's the ZF8 anymore (not sure it ever was?) but I have no real complaints, engine was quick to respond to inputs and the car seemed to change its nature quite dramatically in each of its modes.

It didn't have HK sound and you notice, standard speakers are tragic. Ride is also very, very firm, my partner noticed it immediately and her car is an F56 Cooper S on 18's..

Have spec'd one to my taste since and I'm not sure it's where my £43k ish would go but definitely on my shortlist now, which is obviously Mini's game here :)

I had one of those last year. Was fun to try something different but felt that personally you'd really need to want the Mini brand above all else to pick it over a 1 series.

None of the Mini range has ever had the ZF box by the way as the engines are the wrong way round.

They have a ZF box - the 9 speed. Its just not THE ZF box. and indeed the ZF8 the poster was referring too.

Frankly its not hard to avoid BMW over a MINI for 50% of the population.

Countryman is getting quite long in the tooth now, being 5 years old. Can't imagine it's worth even considering buying a new one?

It's an entirely fair comparison - the Q7 came out in 2015. The Countryman has also had a facelift and a new infotainment system.

I personally agree with the point, but the Q7 is even worse. I'd not have wanted a new one of those given how old it is and the fact they've put the MMI out of the A6 into it is a further 'no thanks' from me :D

Audi Q7 aside, a friend of mine ordered a Cooper JCW in Q3 2021 and it took a lot of self-restraint not to say that this model is now too old to order a new one. The delivery date has been pushed to Q3 2022 so I think he’s cancelled it, phew.

Needed a new front left wishbone due to worn ball joint.

The car is a 2016 JCW F56 with only 30k miles. Not the quality I expect from a so called premium manufacturer.

My old celica, 20 years old never needed one in my 6 years of ownership. Pretty sure it was on the original too. @ 130k. That celica St202 did me proud. Absolutely got hammered, just kept it serviced, never needed anything other than basic service items.

Anyway. New MOT and oil change, front pads done. Till next year.

How much was the wishbone?

Our F55 is in today for a minor service and a new clockspring because it throws a “cruise control error” on the odd occasion. Not sure how much it’s going to cost yet.
