Who here owns a Mini?

Dayyyum.

How much is athe part. Stealer prices for labour?

Yeah, main dealer. The invoice isn't super clear so I've done my best to make sense of it.

Diagnosis = £50 labour (they halved the rate for me)
Clock Spring Labour = £74.90
Coil Spring (Part) = £101.25
Connection (Part) = £17.96
= £244.10 ex. VAT
= £292.92 inc. VAT

We are looking at buying a Mini Clubman Cooper D (2019) from Cazoo. We'll be trading in our 67 plate Citroën C3 if it's an option. Some questions for those who own or have owned this car:

1 - are servicing costs steep? We're used to around £200ish for the C3 at a main dealership
2 - How is the Clubman Cooper D overall? I'm sure it'll be a huge jump from the C3
3 - is there anything to look out for on a 3 year old model?

Thanks in advance

I had the Clubman SD, which I appreciate is a bit different, but to answer your questions:

1. Depends on the dealership but I paid £220 for a minor service and £330 for a major.
2. There will be some options I’d highly recommend. Standard sound system is garbage but the HK system is really good so that’s worth having. Media XL pack also a must otherwise you’re stuck with a smaller screen.
3. EGR valve. Mine went 3 times, mainly due to fairly short journeys. Honestly I’d buy the petrol version instead if I were you.

We've had a Cooper from new - went petrol over diesel and it regularly averages 50mpg, though its a 3 door hatch not the Clubman. I've experienced the same petrol engine in a 1 and a 2 Series and found it quite a bit more thirsty, so not sure how it would perform in the Clubman. I have driven the Cooper D as well and whilst it was quite refined for a small diesel.

Options wise the interior looks much nicer with the larger navigation screen and I also found the head up display was essential because the standard digital display in the speedometer is poor and very small and won't display things like navigation instructions - the head up display fixes this. Didn't bother with the stereo and never found it an issue. I have the upgraded system in my 5 Series so it's not like I don't have anything to compare it with. I can't remember if they are standard on the 2019 Clubman or not but the LED headlights are essential.

We've had it 4 years now and it's been cheap to run, efficient and 100% reliable. A really great car.

Yep HK system is a must have you like your music.

I have the pro nav. Used it exactly 0 times on the last 3 years. Prefer Google maps.

It's the bigger screen that comes with it which is worth having, which if you'd rather use Apple Carplay or something is still better to have. It isn't particularly difficult to find a 2019 car without it and it probably isn't much more expensive.

We just spent £900 on a major service for our 2018 Cooper, this did include some front tyres and an MOT. It'll be fine for quite some time now though.

How?!

I paid about £300 for the major service on our 2018 Cooper and the tyres are no more than £100 each.

I'd have been wondering if we'd bought the wrong car if we ever got a £900 service bill for a Mini Cooper.

Thanks for the replies. There seem to be a few clubmans on Auto Trader but I'm struggling to see anything above standard for our budget. Is there an easy way to tell from photos if they have the upgraded packs?

I will switch my thinking from diesel to petrol though as we don't do many miles.

If it has HK, you will be able to see black tweeters on the A pillars.

We have the JCW clubman and the general servicing on this is, minor £300 and major £600.
Really? So much?

These are the main dealer prices for a Mini Cooper S, but excludes the mandatory crap like waste disposal fee and “standard scope”:

  • Engine oil service with microfilter
    £183.78
  • Engine oil service with microfilter, air filter & spark plugs
    £353.36
