Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Never had a belt change!? Even a low miler should be getting near its second cambelt change by now!
Service Schedule I was told:
  • Engine oil/filter, air filter, cabin filter every 12k miles or 1 year.
  • Auxbelt/pulleys every 36k miles or 3 years.
  • Cambelt/pulleys, spark plugs every 72k miles or 5 years.

The other thing to watch out service wise is the oil changes - these engines will keep on going to big miles fine aslong as you look after them, but miss the regular oil changes (or use cheap muck) and the dephaser pulley goes.

Thanks for the info. I'll keep it in mind when asking questions on any potential cars I find.

I'm moving back to the UK in March, and I'm thinking I'll just get another 182 when I do. I was gutted to be a month too late for an amazing Racing Blue 182 on ClioSport.net. It was perfect, it had Recaros, black OZ F1 wheels, KTR exhaust, K&N Apollo induction, coilovers (albeit cheap Raceland ones), and it was only £3,200, which I thought was a good price.

I definitely want a Racing Blue one, I love the colour.

Go for the 250 and get it remapped. The 265 really isn't worth the premium over the 250. I have the 250 CUP and it handles like a dream. I was left a bit disappointed how the turbo works coming from a stage 3 focus ST but now I've got my map tweaked it pulls a lot better.

Having some major issues with my 182 :( :(

It all started when the EML came on when overtaking. Car was clearly misfiring and mechanic diagnosed it with a misfire on Cylinder 3. Replaced injector and all seemed well but noticed it didn't seem to have the kick at 5k. Things have got worse now and if I press on the throttle more than lightly the car will stutter immediately and then the EML comes on and cuts revs to 2.5k. I had the HT leads and spark plugs changed a few months ago when I had a misfiring problem so I don't think it is that. Could it be a case of replacing more injectors?

Any more error codes?

Unfortunately not, I've not got a fault code reader so keep having to pay £35 to get the code read

One more thing I forgot to mention is that at idle the revs will periodically drop to about 600 then pick up again, then drop again - this cycle is then repeated. This will happen even if the engine is fully warmed up.

If it misfires on tickover, try unplugging the electrical connectors from each injector individually in turn. Unplugging each one should make the misfire far worse… unless it's a dead injector in which case you unplugging it will make no difference and you've therefore identified it as a dud.

Could be another injector. Could be your coil pack. Did you buy the right spark plugs?

Best thing I ever did was buy a bluetooth OBD reader from eBay and download the Torque Pro app for my phone! That will help point you in the right direction without having to pay a mechanic to do a code reading.

What's the best oil I should use for my Megane 250?and how many litres would I need?

The best oil would be something like Fuchs Titan Race Pro S 5W-40.
However its not paid Renault to be on its approved list so id wait until out of warranty before using it to prevent "issues" if you need to make a claim. Elf have a backhander with Renault afterall, why else do all their cars come with the stickers

The car is being towed to diamond motors at lunch. Getting air in the ABS pump is not a good trick, and isn't clever. So Mick to the rescue lol
I'm looking forward to getting it back after all the work on the suspension though. Should be like a new car. :)
