Who here owns a Renaultsport?

The alloys can easily be changed. I'm not really looking to keep the car for too long anyway. I might send him a message after work and see if he's had the belts done.

Maybe it's just me but an owner who could put those hideous wheels that look far too large for a Clio 182 and will have a negative impact on the handling / ride of the car is an owner I would want to steer clear of.

I've messaged the guy and the belts haven't been done. He says the condition inside is good and hhe's going to message me tomorrow about how many services it's had as he doesn't have the book with him at the moment....

The car is 9 years old and never had a belt change? Oooooooof. Braver man than I if you decide to go for it ;). Unless you fancy footing the bill straight away.

As above... Except don't walk, run. :)
No belts, horrid wheels and part service history all for the bargain price of £2500.
I'd personally have a look on the clio sport forum for sale section, you can pick up some bargains on there and have the option of researching the sellers forum post history for faults etc

Thats the problems with 172/182's now they are in that price range where people skimp on maintenance due to the cheap value of the cars. Finding a minter that has been kept to a high standard regardless of cost its whole life will be next to impossible but as degen says, Cliosport and the likes would be a good starting point.

Well I sold my Inferno FF last week, put the advert up Tuesday and the first person to view it Thursday put a deposit down. I was sad to see it go on Saturday morning.
I was surprised how much interest it had, I had people from Bristol, Glocester, Blackpool, and Manchester booking viewings.

Still I am glad it was an easy sale. :)

5-6k is an awkward amount, I would keep the current car a bit longer. :)

I picked my 182 up with no history of the belts being done, got the car for £1600 though and drove it straight to my local renault specialist for both belts to be done. I believe it cost me £560. But I knew then it was done correctly and the belts were good for 3yr for the Aux and 5yr for the cam belt.

As long as the price is right there is no need to walk away from a car that needs it's belts doing. Though £2.5k is far too much, especially if you don't like the wheels.

If you want a cheap 172/182, join cliosport forum, as that is probably the cheapest place to buy a decent one.

Well he got back to me this morning on how many times it has been services in its life...... And the answer was twice  I think it would be safer just to run away :D

I'll have a look on clio sport and see what they have on there.

BennyC on here is selling his black 182, might be a bit above your budget though. I believe it's up on CS for sale.

Have a look a few pages back at the 182 I got for £1250. There are well maintained 182s out there you just need to be patient.
cliosport seems to be more guilty than other places for overpricong their cars by a large amount so just take your time.

Yeah I've noticed the prices on a lot of the cars over there seem quite high. I'm in no rush to get one so I won't be jumping into any deal unless it seems like a bargain.
