Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Sorted. PE2's at £125 a corner. Includes rubber, fitting,.. balancing etc....

Could have saved about £4 buying them myself, but convenience got the better of me.

i hear good things about the Hankook V12 Evo

many people on cliosport have them and all report better then PE2 and cheaper too.

I am looking for one now as well.. there seems to be some really clean ones with good services historys on cliosport, belts etc done.

There is one at a local garage to me, 36k miles.. £6500 though and silver, which isnt really a colour i was considering

Far too expensive, you'd get a good Trophy for that. Around £5K will get you a good 182 with both cup packs.

Agreed. I paid 5.9k for my FF 2 years ago with 33k miles.

Aye, don't pay £6.5k unless it's a Trophey.

I picked up an 05 182FF for £5k on 53k miles. Had a cracked foglight (£25) and a windscreen chip (£10). Slight scuff on the front left alloy and only a months tax. Could do with a air-con re-gas soon.

Though its interior was in mint condition, few light stone chips on the front end which can't really be avoided. Both cans of tyre foam, jack hadn't even been used, locking nuts etc. FSH either at renault dealers or renault specialists (ren-tech/JMS) It had aged parts replaced (perished rubber on wishbones, new brake pads etc). Runs without a problem.

Head over to cliosport.net read up on them, what to look for and what to avoid. Much better deals to be had privately if you don't mind the potential risk. Just check through to see it has had all the necesary work done including the belts done which it needs doing around the low 30k mile mark. There's also a 5 year/75,000 mile service too I think.

They must be amazing tyres, how much of the PE2 is marketing BS with regards to them being specifically made for the Clio?

I went with conti sportcontact 3 for £60 a corner. I'd find it impossible to justify spending double the amount.

I ended up changing them for the Eagle F1's at £90 a corner, but your point still stands :p

It was my new years resolution to give the car some tlc and since i do a lot of miles and occasionally like to drive in an overly exhuberant manor I thought i'd treat myself.

I guess you get what your pay for - longevity, quality, great grip in all conditions and reassurance that the tyre wont let go when you need it most.

So i carried on car hunting today, admittedly it was at garages which i cant see been the place i end up buying from.

I just wanted to get a feel for the car having never drove one

Firstly i test drove the silver one i mentioned earlier as previously he did not have any trade plates, had nearly 36k on it.. it felt quick but not amazing really, the first thing i noticed really was the heavier clutch more than anything.

I then test drove a black 182 from a nearby garage, it was not the cup version, 2004, but with only 27k miles on it, the garage has also done the belts on it... well this felt like a totally different car, really rapid and wanting to go all the time, they are after £5750 for it.

Still going to keep looking as i am not in a position to buy, but thought i would post how i felt about the two cars.

i dont know if there was or not, the second one felt 100% better than the first one.

Yea i agree on what your saying regarding the price.. especially as there was only a 30 day warrenty with it from the garage, what are you paying all that extra money for ?

I can see this been a struggle to find the right one, the second test drive really sold me with them tho, was awsome fun to drive.

You will find the right one, I travelled 250 miles to get mine, but was the colour I wanted, in great condition and FF. I paid £5200 for mine a year ago, 52k on the clock, PE2's on all 4 tyres. You'll get a much better deal going private, dealers seem to want a lot more for 182's, definitely doesn't seem worth the extra. You can even get an RAC/AA inspection for a bit more peace of mind.

That first one doesn't sound like it was in great condition. Should feel quick, but not overly, they aren't straight line warriors. The clutch is heavy in them, first thing I noticed, but you quickly get used to it and is a great workout for the left leg :p

27k miles on a 6 year old car isn't a lot, around 4.5k a year. You don't want to buy one that's barely been used. Just make sure the belts have been changed, as pretty much every 182 should have had this done by now.

Consider some options for sale over on the CS for sale forum.

CS enthusiasts that have looked after their motors and shown them plenty of TLC. You'll also save a packet.

There was a silver 182FF with just over 40k, PE2's, belts done, mint condition and asking price for that was £4750 a while back.

You generally find a fair few 'quick sales' come up and that sellers are also willing to knock a little off for members of CS.

Just to check - you said it wasn't the cup version. Do you mean it wasn't an actual Clio Cup, or it didn't have both cup packs? If it doesn't have the cup packs then walk away, it makes the car tbh. And as already mentioned, that's too much, should be no more than £5k for that.

Yea no cup packs as in.. no spoiler, anthracite alloys or splitter.

Just paid my subscription again on cliosport, gonna have a look round.

I just picked up a 182 cup on a 05 plate. I got a good deal as the belts need doing. How much should i expect to pay (inc water pump) from an indy?
