Who here owns a Renaultsport?

@dale1uk funnily enough the M135i / M140i was what I was considering to get in lockdown before the prices shot up like crazy. I had seen a few Shadow Editions but then with no where to drive I didn't go ahead with the purchase. Looking now the market is flooded with high user mileage M135i pre-facelifts or highly priced face lift models hence started looking at alternatives. For the usage I have the engine alone in the M135i / M140i would be fun and last of a breed.

@ddoubleep Yeah the market is all over the place. I had to do a 10hr round trip to get mine, as everything closer was 1-2k more expensive. I paid £11k last July for my decent spec (auto, pro nav, Harman Kardon, sunroof, adaptive dampers,) 2013 M135i with 94k on it. It has full service history, and had new tyres and brakes and the gearbox serviced around 2 months prior to buying it. I did consider all the other hot hatch alternatives (RS Megane, Golf GTi, Astra VXR, CIVIC Type R, Focus ST) but kept coming back to the M135i despite the mileage/age/cost premium

Gave mine a clean after a bit of winter neglect!

Mine looks like the before now! been like this for weeks I spend ages washing her by hand then after a weekend drive its just as dirty again!!

Also getting a lot of damage recently sadly......last weekend 2 horrible stone chips after a large stone flew off a lorry wheel which I could not avoid it glanced the top front roof....then yesterday a seagull flew into the windscreen when I slowed down to let it fly away it flew at me instead of away from me! I have a mobile windscreen glass repair pro coming tomorrow to see if it can be fixed or needs a replacement windscreen (which means Renault France backorder 3-6 weeks & finding an RS tech in the UK who can join it to the ECU as sensors & heating elements plus mirror electrics means its not just a plug n play job!!).

The chips do stand out a bit on this colour don't they :( I've got one on the bonnet same as the one in your first picture really!

Any yeah there's not much point washing it at this time of the year ;) but it was particularly caked on the back, was messing up the camera and rear sensors ha!

Cool :)

Just toying with the idea as a run around but fun car if I do decide to part with the Mégane

There's one at a local garage for £5995 08 plate with 72000 miles. Thinking that's a bit high of a price but mileage isn't terrible for its age

I guess a cambelt service would be worth checking too?

Some lovely cars in here. Would I be welcome with my little Clio MK4 0.9 TCE? It is a GT Line and has "Renault Sport" on the door sill I think. ;)

We've had the car since last year and it's so far been really good. We wanted something cheap to insure, tax, run for a 17 year old to share it as our additional family run about car. Being the GT line it's fairly nicely spec'd for a french hatch back. Cruise and speed limiter, elec windows all round, stop start tech, rear parking sensors, tyre pressure sensors, digital climate control, eco mode, evolution+ head unit with nav and android auto, bluetooth etc. So far I've had the rear windows tinted to look like a factory tint and I'll be installing new speakers and a modest/stealthy sub/amp install. Seems to pull really nicely for a 0.9 with the turbo and economy. I did the first service myself and all seems ok.

Things I don't like:

1: Squeeky suspension. Apparently a known mk4 clio thing. Mine's very low miles so nothing warn out.
2: Rear disc brakes are a bit lame, but the car stops super well anyway so I can see why they cheap out there. They also are prone to surface rusting so a summer job will be to paint them black or silver.
3: When pushed, the car seems to understeer alarmingly easily. Will know more whether it's the tyres (Avons) when I get some different ones later this year.
4: That someone looks to have keyed it all down the rear quarter panel already :(
5: The "bass reflex" speakers are possibly the worst speakers I have heard in a car in the last decade, hence upgrading them.

100% check for the cambelt

Makes sense thanks, water pump too I guess

This is the one near me. Tbh seems on the money with the miles actually compared to the market in general?https://www.dgcarsalessemington.co.uk/cars/renault/clio/renaultsport197/760372/

I thought these had twin exhaust but this one doesn't seem to? Or is that a cup thing?
Water pump you can hear if it needs doing but yeh should be done given the age.
They should have dual exhausts but the 197 was hidden/dark so may not be obvious from the photos.
It’s not a cup, tbh I’d look for one with cup packs (or a cup) and Recaro seats if possible.

Thanks for the tips, will keep an eye out for a cup too :)
