Who here owns a Subaru?

My 04 WRX.

Had it around 3 months now. Horrendous on fuel but so much fun. Mapped with Antilag / Launch Control

Cool :)

Did you buy new after?

I've only say in it thus far and other than the seats, I prefer the cabin to the Focus RS.

Depreciation is a bit off-putting buying new.

Yes bought new. I am not that concerned about the depreciation.. I don't intend to sell any time soon and if I have to sell then so be it. Risk with any car, but no doubt another new model will come out and help prices fall. But then again with the weakening pound, the new purchase cost may increase...

Seats are a bit unsupportive. I call them American sized seats. Look good and are comfy enough though.

Hi guys, after a bit of advice :)

Is an atmospheric dump valve necessary for a certain bhp and above, or are they a pointless accessory? Mine has one, I would prefer a standard recirculating valve BUT I dont want to go back to stock if it could potentially create problems!

Ta :)

You bought one Phil? What did you get?

IMO, replace the DV with the standard one. They cause problems on MAF cars, but are ok on cars with a MAP sensor.

Nice! More details please!

Don't like the look of those rear tyres though. These things can be a bit bitey in the wet when provoked. Even with Eagle F1s all round, mine can be a bit, shall we say, interesting ;)

Awesome cars though.

The tyres need replacing, I'm shopping for some now - reading up on what works best :)

Its an 03 plate. 350ish bhp according to the RR graph in the paperwork. From what I can tell its been mapped, has a turbo back exhaust system and the DV. Possibly an air filter - not checked that yet!

Has the rear shock knock as standard so need to look into sorting that but its very very clean overall :)

It'll drive better with a recirc (Stock or aftermarket) atmospheric causes some funky fuelling on cars that use MAF based fuel algorithms

That's fine, didn't want to change it and potentially cause issues! Prefer it not to be there anyway, hate mods like that :D

Yeah, 320-330 seems about right on the stock turbo for your mods, although yours will have the TD05(I think) compared to the VF35 on mine. Do you know who mapped it?

I wouldn't bother with an aftermarket air filter tbh. I ran a mixture of Apexi PowerIntake and stock filters on my Rover and it made no difference. My STi has a K&N panel filter but I'm going back to a genuine stock Subaru filter. You can mod the resonator for a bit more noise though.

They really are great cars. I know you're pretty handy with a spanner so running costs will be very reasonable. Parts are sensible money and they're pretty easy to work on. Definitely nothing like you'd expect after a glance at the engine bay.

I was told by Paul Blamire (aka Pavlo) that you need to be running at least 400bhp before going to VTA from the standard recirc.

When i had a VTA valve on mine breifly it made it overfuel which was fun for a week with all the pops and bangs but i quickly went back to standard and it drove a lot better. Mine was very similar with a panel filter and catback exhaust and remap.
