I think Shoseki is really cool because finding people cool is so beneath him - coolness personified.

well, if anyone was going to mention my Maynard, i'm glad it was you :)

there's been a lot of great recommendations in this thread, and some that i wouldn't have initially thought of. For me, it'd be

Zack de la Rocha - stands completely and wholeheartedly for what he believes in. i wish i could be more like that.

Bill Hicks - pretty much for the same reason as Zack...he knew things needed to change, and rather than try to change them, he tried to change people's perceptions of the things that were/are going on. very intelligent, strong, talented guy.

Jack Nicholson - just an awesome actor, and there's something about the way he can go from totally fine to complete psycho in about 2 seconds is awesome.

Will Smith - well, he's just a swiss army person, isnt he?!

edit: forgot about 1 of my favourites:

John Travolta - that guy just oozes cool.
