Who is going to get a Pascal Titan X ?

It will be a differet colour. That is it. The issues that the 1080 cooler has, the Titan cooler will have the same issues. Except it will be black!

Indeed, i think its high time that this odd thinking that a reference board HAS to have a blower style cooler needs to get ditched. They could get far better temps with dual or triple fans, not to mention far better acoustics.

Having to send my Vive back due to serious sickness issues, so I'm 50/50 on this now, money burning a hole in my gaming pocket again.

I know VR and 3D are very different but by any chance to you suffer from headaches while watching 3D content?

I get nasty headaches from 3D and one reason I haven't jumped at VR at this moment in time.

Nope I'll pass.

We still don't know how HBM2 going to perform on pascal. I'm very happy with GDDR5X. Damn this hobby is getting too expensive.

Apart from power saving, I really don't think we are at a point where HBM is needed. I mean are the 1070 and 1080 really bandwidth limited at all? GDDR%X will probably go 12GBPS eventually which I think will be more than enough bandwith for this generation.

It would mean a faster data in and output to the Vram, so that large textures would almost stream instantly, and with 16GB vram you could stream hughe texture sizes at once very fast
Wonder if that would help to get rid of the textures that you can see poping up in front of you in some games

Example
In one the Rise of tomb raider benchmarks you can clearly see the textures poping up..

I think there will be a 1080Ti, as I can't believe they would release a 1060,1070,1080 & Titan X, in a 3 month stint, and nothing else for 6 - 9 months.

Volta could be early..............after all PAscal was never meant to exist in the first place and all these cards are nothing more than gap filling.

Yeah first time at the cinema watching a 3D movie I got a banging headache and eye strain, no real sickness though. First time at home a little headache but now I can watch them no trouble. After my first 20 minutes in VR I spent the following 2 hours within the vicinity of my toilet area not daring to leave.
I would suggest paying to go and try it out somewhere or round at a mates, though they do say you can better the more you play VR, didn't work for me though, shame cause I really enjoyed it and thought the Vive was a great bit of kit.

Could you please explain the advantages of HBM2 over G5X that'll be noticeable in games?

Also, which games require more than 12GB VRAM?

Not meaning to pick on you, I'm just seeing this attitude all over the internet and it's frankly baffling.

It will mean nothign speed wise so long as the core is getting enough bandwidth from the gddr5.

The main reason to go hbm is the massive power saving for the same/better bandwidth.

so if your card was drawing 300w using gddr5x and you used hbm2, it might only use 250W instead.

SInce this titan only uses 250w, it clearly doesnt need to save any power by using hbm2.

Sorry I was sure I read somewhere that Pascal was a last minute addition....probably fud in one of those rumour articles though

Presumably they realised volta and hbm were still a ways off and then went with what many claim is a slightly tuned up maxwell to fill the gap.

Which is why AMD will have to use it for vega (assuming power efficiency is similar to polaris), the same way they had to use HBM for the Fury X.

If the RX480 is already pulling over 150w in games they don't have much headroom for a GP102 performing card.
