Who owns a Mondeo ST220 / ST TDCI?

My dads Mondeo had that problem and required a new clutch in the end. The mechanic was sorry he agreed to do it in the end he had it for days it's such a pain of a job on the 3.0 V6 and costly.

Hopefully not. The clutch seems fine when changing gear and bite is perfect, just the pedal sometimes sticking in place.

However yet ANOTHER issue today... just been to tesco and on way back i get a yellow flashing EML and car starts chugging  Limped home and left it sitting idle, light stays solid yellow and if i rev it chugs! so many damn sensors on these cars and one of them seems to be acting up and causing the mixture to change. Love the car to bits but im beginning to wish i had gome for something else  No smoke or noises so im hoping its not serious, usually serious = red right and brown trousers :p

Well thats tomorrows day out cancelled! Will have to limp into town on monday and have whatever codes its thrown up checked. Most likely a split hose or a duff sensor somewhere.

Edit: well managed to pop and get the codes read today seems a plug is out on cylinder 3 ! :P

Well, I've loved having her but it's time we parted ways. My 2009 Titanium X Sport is going up for sale. Saying that, I'm not sure what the used car market is like at the minute, hopefully I can get her sold.

What's the best site (or sites) to sell it on? Pistonheads, eBay, AutoTrader, or somewhere else?

Well all sorted.... it was the coil pack!
I have a local motor spares place that had a returned pack sat on a shelf that they thought they would never shift! it was still in its sealed bag and had been there for 2 years, a customer ordered and paid for it and never came in for it! so he let me have it for £50 inc vat.... i decided to just get it as im sure even if it wasnt the problem i would need one sooner or later.
I popped the bonnet and tried it before removing the old one, just swapped the leads over and it started and ran smoothly first time. 5Mins and one bashed finger later shes all purring like a kitten again :P

The old coil pack appears to be the factory fitted one looking at the label so its had a good 105k miles of service.
Physically it looked in very good condition but under close inspection there were cracks in the housing underneath which apparently indicates imminent failure. I actually thought about the coil pack first as i googled the error code and came across a youtube video from the states that seemed to suggest that coil pack failure on the V6 Duratech practically ALWAYS displays as a spark issue in Cylinder 3! Was worth a shot anyway as even a dumb grunt like me can swap that out.
Also had a chat about the sticky clutch pedal and one can of silicone lubricant later that appears to be all sorted as well. Sticky hinge! :D

The list of things to do is getting shorter! Just lower rear gearbox mount and the 2 flexi downpipes.... and then i can think about the JP!

Long shot but ..... dont suppose anyone has a spare, known good idle air control valve for their ST220, that they could send to me to test on mine ? would have course pay for all delivery costs.

I did - to a friend of mine. It lasted well for two years, until someone decided to interface with it at speed.

RIP

Just remember if the rest of the car was in good condition those parts have a fair bit of value! if they offer him a buyback he should consider it.

Lots of people on the mondeostoc forums would be interested in engine/gearbox wheels calipers exhaust cats etc etc.... list goes on and on.

See Ford have added the new Mondeo to the silly ST Line range coming out this year :(. If they have gone to the trouble of making the car with its 19 inch rims and sporty body kit, twin exhausts etc why not just make the proper full fat ST version and just stick the 250bhp engine out the new Focus ST in it rather than only giving two pathetic 2.0 Diesel engine choices in a car that's meant to be a "sports model". Such a shame as it looks a great looking motor .

Anyone ever changed the PCV Valve on one of these ? Strongly suspect its the cause of my problems at the moment, exact same problems and observations others have mentioned online. Waiting on it to be delivered (from Murica), and seeing as I'm going to be whipping off the upper and lower manifolds to replace the gaskets (and spark plugs), it felt stupid not to do it.

Looks easy enough, got 1 out from a scrapyard ST220, it was completely shot, what was left of it was just a hollow tube basically, no mesh material or anything remotely springy.
