coming home from work the on Friday my engine warning light came on, plugged in my computer and it says bank 1 and 2 are running lean.
check google and most people say its common for one of the breather pipes to go, so popped the bonnet to check it out.
couldn't see anything and just as I shut the bonnet, I could smell petrol and a quick glace around the car shows me theres a puddle of petrol right under the fuel filter.
bring the car into the drive and jack it up, on further inspection the clip that connects to the fuel filter appears undamaged and is clipping onto the fuel filter but as soon as the ignition was on (pressurized) petrol was squirting out of it.
it seems that you cannot just replace the clip but the whole fuel line, and on inspection it looks like that line goes right to the top of the sump, not a job I really want to do.
anyways cut an already long story short, got a bit of old fuel line, sawed the old clip off and just pushed the spare bit of fuel line onto the filter and the clip and secured it in place with some clamp clips.
after the original clip was off I had a good nose at it, it seems the tiny yellow rubber seal had perished completely.
all that faff for the sake of a tiny little seal.
