Still gonna cost you a couple of hundred by the time you've sold the other wheels and paid for the remap, and the extra faff, and the fact I think a standard painted finish looks better than the diamond-cut finish
I had it recently a bit too, a little "eek" when I lifted the pedal after changing gear, until I realised that it only seemed to do it when it was wet and I was wearing particular shoes, so I concluded that it was the shoes squeaking and not the pedal, lol.
Lol go for it. I don't hear the clock when I'm driving around but if I'm sitting in the car with the engine off and no music on, I'll hear a little "erk" as the minutes tick by. After taking the clock out when removing the silver trim to wrap it, I don't get the impression that it's the highest quality timepiece Ford could have sourced
That's a rip off as surely you don't get the brackets or disks or pads? To use your alloy wheel analogy, surely it's better to just pay twice that and get the APs
Worn suspension components mainly - subframe bushes and ARB drop links. Rear calipers and handbrake mechanisms (and handbrake cables) can stick - make sure the handbrake lever doesn't feel "floppy" or loose when you pull it up before it starts to engage. If you can get underneath check the underside of the sump and/or the gearbox aren't covered in oil - could be the crank seal that is leaking which is ££++ to sort, but it might also be the rocker cover or sump gaskets which are a lot easier to sort. I would expect you're not looking at the older prefacelift versions which were susceptible to rusty doors?
Make sure it's been serviced frequently with plenty of fresh oil etc. Otherwise it's just little niggly things that can be fixed fairly easily.
05 is the final facelift, yes. You're lucky in that you're just about escaping the 06+ VED raping, as well. Sounds like a decent example. What's the mileage?
I really like that, seems like a great buy. If it is in good condition and all drives nicely with no untoward behaviour then it should represent excellent value! I know it's nothing when you're coming from an E60 M5 but they really are a very well-rounded car.
It looks like you're getting some calipers and some discs and pads (that look like they've been dredged up from the bottom of a canal) so no, I would assume not, but it can't hurt to ask the seller.
As far as I understood it, the calipers aren't terribly hard to source, but the brackets appear to double the price of the whole situation It's all a great big con really because people on single-make forums appear to be rather gullible
The prices seem quite condition-dependent. £1,895 is too cheap for a good 06. I'd rather pay more for one that has been well looked after, not chavved, and isn't shabby and in need of stuff doing.
It does affirm that mine is worth sweet FA, though
Yes but the price that manky old calipers seem to sell for has gone up substantially in recent years, often to more than you can buy new manufacturer-refurbished ones for, that's what I mean.
If I could get a set of clean second hand calipers and carriers for about £200 I'd probably go for it. Let's face it, they're hardly special. They're just a bit bigger than the standard Mondeo calipers, of which you can buy new Pagid items for £70 each
Pagid make decent quality OEM replacement stuff and they remanufacture old stuff. I've had no problems with any Pagid remanufactured calipers I've used.
I know what you mean, you may well notice the difference though in terms of bite and pedal feel. They'll look great too
The main reason I'd consider the Focus brake conversion is so they fill the wheels a bit better
