Who owns a Mondeo ST220 / ST TDCI?

You're going to need an entire new centre console with the climate control unit and mounting clobber and that's before you've gotten your head around whatever wiring needs to be done. It doesn't look like a particularly easy task! That's why I didn't want a sat nav-equipped one..

Probably easier to buy a different car. :D

I find them useful for knowing just how close I am getting to what's behind me, which can be useful in tighter parking spots. The rear of the car isn't exactly flat past the rear window and it can be difficult to judge in the mirrors. There's no reason to claim that you don't "need" them or that they're "not manly" imho. They're a driving aid, like power steering and ABS and vacuum-assisted brakes and whatnot. If you don't need any of those things, great.

Yep, be aware that the rear caliper design changed near the end of 2004 though so as long as your car was made before then, they'll be fine. Easy job, and they seem cheap!

Edit: Just seen it appears to be for a pair! Suspiciously cheap.

What dents are you getting sorted and how much are you paying? :)

Oh and I assume none of you 'orrible lot are coming to the RR then? :p

The RR at Powerstation in Tewkesbury on Saturday :p

I'm going and running, yes. You know you want to come.

Amusingly, having just checked Google Maps, the distance from Chesterfield to Tewkesbury is exactly the same as Tewkesbury is from where I live. Nuneaton is about half as far. No excuses. :p

Almost - It has a JP exhaust and slightly modified airbox. Will be an interesting comparison to how it RR'd a couple of years ago (232bhp) when it was totally standard. I'm hoping for more, but prepared for less. :D

You don't have to get there at the crack of dawn, the runners just need to arrive around the opening time which is about 9am :p

I am interested to see these results, you will be posting them in here as well right ;) ;) ;)

Also, slightly modded airbox ?

Spose :p

Regarding the airbox, when Ford facelifted the car and added the 6-speed gearbox, they removed the second air feed into the airbox because the gearbox got in the way. In typical cost-cutting fashion, they didn't re-design the airbox to eradicate the second inlet, so there's a hole in the bottom of the airbox on the left hand side, about 3 inches long, which sucks in air from the middle of the engine bay. Adding some piping to this which routes round to a "colder" area of the engine bay, i.e. in front of the nearside headlamp, can help with induction temperatures and heat soak.

If I take the top off the airbox and take out the filter is the hole visible from there ?
Yeah, it's easier to take the whole airbox unit out though by detaching it from the pipe.

What sized piping is required to do this mod ?
57mm rectangle according to this:

Pics don't work any more though :(

Did you actually notice any difference ?

I don't know. :D

If anything it seemed to bog down a bit less when driving in the summer heat.

If it's in excellent condition what does it matter if it costs a few hundred more to buy than one that isn't quite as new or in as good condition? Sounds good to me. The tax is a bit of a wounder but then it's that or buy an older one in likely worse condition.

Nice job! :)

You sure the DS3's brakes were actually more effective, and not just a sharper transition from 'off' to 'on'? ;)

I think your brakes are broken then :p I had to stop pretty sharpish from like 70mph the other day and the brakes were happy to oblige.

Well yes I agree they could be better and some nice 4 pots or something would be more fitting for such a car :) but it doesn't mean they're not perfectly suitable for road use IMHO.

Anyway this argument always goes round in circles. :D

Am I gonna be the only ST220 at the rolling road tomorrow then? :p
