Who owns a Mondeo ST220 / ST TDCI?

Anyone here fitted the JP Exhaust to their ST220?

They got 15% off atm until Thursday so am tempted to replace my rusting OEM one.

I'm tempted. I'm waiting for someone to put up a proper video of what it sounds like, i.e. from the cabin when driving, under acceleration etc, maybe a drive by, and not just a video where the camera has been placed on the ground six inches from the exhaust pipes :p

Other than strapping on a pair of turbos like the Noble, what's the story with tuning the ST220? Much gains to be had with an exhaust, remap, and induction kit?

Those three things typically seem to gain people 15-20bhp on dynos. So there is a little bit of scope especially as the remapping removes the torque limit in lower gears. I'm tempted by a Pumaspeed unit but am a bit skeptical. Other than these though, the usual natural aspiration constraints apply really.

What's the average mileage out of the clutch ?

As with any car it depends how it's been driven. I had mine replaced under warranty shortly after I bought the car at about 55k miles because it was dragging but I don't see why they can't last 100k+

I had a slight water ingress into the rear footwell - took the door card off and saw the waterproof membrane had a bit of a hole/gap in the seal which was letting water in. Sealed it up with some mastic and job's a good'un.

I saw an in-car video someone posted on PH of their JP exhaust and it didn't sound a lot different to stock when he floored it. I thought it'd emit a nice racey 6cyl rasp which is what I'd want but it seems your choice with these cars is either OEM sound or a deep boomy farty sound from other (non-JP) exhausts.. :p

Wow they're expensive  I did some research when I replaced my bulbs and it seemed that the Philips ones were universally recommended on various forums as a pretty damn good OEM replacement. Mine are slightly brighter now that I've replaced them :)

It depends how you define 'trying'. I've seen 37 but that was in the middle of the night on a really steady run. In reality you'll see between 32 and 35 depending on conditions etc. It's not something to get hung up on really

It's likely that the Sony unit just has inadequate RF noise suppression circuitry to deal with the likes of cheap noisy phone chargers and whatnot.

It's an awful unit anyway, well worth replacing :)

It's a Visteon unit and and is probably more a case of being a 'jack of all trades' unit, in that it does nav, music and also climate control so less effort is probably spent on the audio electronics / DSPs / amplifiers. But who knows, it may well be as good if not better than the Sony unit. I've not used one
