Who were the top 10 drivers of 2011?

If you don't see the point then you don't need to post :) thread is going fine with people who enjoy having an opinion :)

Na let him post, I found it amusing that for one half of his argument for Heikki being one of the top drivers of the season was down to him being a really nice guy :p

I'm just suprised that Barrichello hasn't won a championship!

He's not got into any fights, he's not ****ed anyone off, hes not said anything stupid to the press, and he has taken the Lotus to above where it probubly should be. Considering being a 'top driver' in this thread has nothing to do with achievements (otherwise it would just be the top 10 in the WDC) then I think they are all perfectly valid reasons to consider him a top driver this year.

Is Heikki getting the Lotus ahead of where it should be not an achievement in your book then?

What makes you say this thread has nothing to do with achievements?

If you read the link in the OP you will see the whole essence of the thread is about what drivers have achieved this year.

Achievements as in results. This is not about the 10 best scoring drivers, its about other things they have done that make drivers stand out.

And anyway, spunky put Heikki at no.4 in his list and nobody is pulling him apart...

1. Jenson
2. Alonso
3. Kovalinen

Would be my top 3. Vettel did a good job but had it all his own way with the car. I want to see him under a lot more pressure next year. If he succeeds with a more marginal car then i will gladly agree he is entering the realms of true greatness.

i dont understand why rosbergs so high up on peoples lists when he only just managed to outscore his teammate who had 3 technical DNFs to rosbergs 0

Schumacher had three 5th place finishes and a 4th place finish this season.
Rosberg only had two 5th place finishes.

yet on some peoples lists rosberg is 4th and schumacher doesnt even get listed

They all Finished where I would expect.
The only two exceptions

Button and Koby, which did more than expected.

A few like webber & massa did deliver. so shouldn't be in anyones top 10. Lewis although not terrible did worse than expected so should fall down a few places.
So:

Button
Koby
Vettel
Sutil
Alonso
Lewis
Rosberg
MSC
Di resta. First half of the season anyway.

Because Schumacher is a 7 time WDC and the most successful Formula 1 driver of all time, and Rosberg... isn't.

so? both can only deliver what the car is capable of and points wise they are one of the closest pairings on the grid, it makes no sense to me that rosberg is so high up on peoples lists.

I agree with this, you have to look at what the car can deliver.

Webber and massa shouldn't be in anyone's top 10.
Koby got the sauber much higher than it should be. Button got the mclaren higher than it should be, look at the races he won, they shouldn't of been his.
But the sheer majority, did what was expected and no more and no less.

So Button and Koby deserve credit because they drove beyond the capabilities of the car, yet Rosberg and Schumacher deserve credit because they cant be expected to drive beyond the capabilities of the car?

No, they did what was expected and therefore aren't at the top of the list. Nothing todo with what they are capable off.
Lewis is capable of driving beyond the cars limit, but didn't hence why he drops down several places.
Credit? Who would you pipit above them, swing as pretty much all drivers did what was expected no more, no less. So when that happens. I at least return to rankings.

But you haven't adjusted for what car they are driving. Which is important.
Otherwise midfield/backed drivers would never get in a front team. As by standings they are never good drivers.

If team bosses were like Skeeter no driver would ever move up into the top teams :D must be hard to see F1 in such a black and white manner.
