Who's happy with single gpu performance?

I am quite happy with mine. I do run some games at crazy 3k resolutions like you but mainly I've settled on 2560 x 1440 and push all settings to max.

So far my 1080 has performed admirably. I was thinking to get a 1080 TI but seeing as all my games run more than very well, I am not going to bother anymore. Maybe next generation TI.

My main issue at your resolution is that I can't read any of the text on the screen and this is why I drop to 2560 where I can still see things. I am not talking only about normal use but text in games as well. It's so small that it's effectively unreadable, although if you play something like Doom and don't care about reading anything and just blasting things then 3k is superb.

I am thinking a bigger screen would do better especially as I plan to move to 4k in the near future but not until we get screens with over 100 hz refresh rate. I can't deal with 60 hz. I run at 144hz and want to keep doing that.

quite a few modern games at 4k eat 1080s still

many recent games only at 40 fps.and more new games to come.

1080ti should maybe get close to the first card on its own to run 4k at 60 fps.

I moved from 2x gigabyte G1 970s to a single G1 980Ti

Very happy with it, in synthetic benchmarks such as Firestrike I score about 800 marks less but in real world situations I can't see any difference.
This is running at 1440p.

Very unlikely that I would go back to sli.

It handles beautifully.

I'm extremely happy with my EVGA 1080 FTW. Even though I had one blow on me. OCUK RMA was fast and painless. Will last me a few years. All settings ultra on my Acer x34A 3440x1440p. Every game I've thrown at it at or above 60fps. Lovely card.

^ This is music to my ears, I got a 1080 and will order the monitor later this week.

1080 on its own at 3440x1440 Ultra is grand for the most part at 60fps, though there are some titles that'll need to drop a couple settings to stay close to the mark, and GSync is certainly required IMO with these.
If high refresh rates are the goal, then a Titan X is the sweetspot , albeit an expensive one. It brings up those minimum frame rates and allows most titles to aim for 80-90fps+ at Ultra settings, with far fewer titles needing a bit of help to maintain itself around this.

After having SLI 980Ti's since they came out until 3 months ago, I must say I'm enjoying a single GPU with an adaptive sync monitor significantly more than I did SLI.

Sure I cannot much as much FPS as I use to, but in the majority of games there is no little stutter anymore, and with FreeSync things have been fantastic.

I'd honestly stay with a single top GPU in the future from now on again.

Single card for me I've always wanted to try sli or crossfire but by the time I'm ready to buy another card it's normally better value just to upgrade.

My 970 is satisfactory. To the point where I regretted buying a 980ti since I wouldn't see any tangible improvements with it (on a 1080p60 screen), so I was slightly relieved when I had to cancel it due to zero stock.

But the 970 isn't satisfactory for 1440p in my opinion... which is why I'm looking to a more powerful GPU to upgrade to in the future. Of course... such a GPU doesn't exist yet, at least at reasonable prices.

Having been out of the PC game for about 10 years I'm frankly blown away by the single 970 I'm using! I might upgrade next year if I have the money, but we'll see.

I had two 1080s for a short while. The performance of a single card was so ludicrous at 1440p that I didn't ever bother using them both in SLI.
