Who's happy with single gpu performance?

Currently have Titan black sli, but I'm in the early stages of building myself an itx skylake build. This means I'll be restricted to a single card. Now I'm a bit worried I'm gonna lose a lot of performance and will be playing games at medium settings on my 3440x1440 monitor.
Has anyone done anything similar and were you happy?
I do plan on upgrading the gpu aswell but not till a month or two after I finish my build.

Happy to stay on single gpu setup. I did consider running two r290s in crossfire but a quick look at support (or lack of) of crossfire/sli in many many games changed my mind pretty quick.

I only game at 1920x1080 though. Run everything on near max GTX980. Except VR then its only very high but still looks goodas i use the DSR usually 1.5 I game mainly on projector me lounging on a sofa. (except for VR and then whats the point of a new monitor there?)

The other thing is my projector is only 1080p and the next step up projector wise is a 4k projector costing ££££ thousands moneywise.

I dont see this changing anytime soon....until the price of 4k projectors come down a bit in price.

Tbh I'm super happy with just 1080p & a 380. When I went higher and kept upgrading it didn't really bring any satisfaction and I barely played anyway. I think that when you're in the mood to game you game on anything and are happy, and when you're not then no amount of upgrades and resolution increases help because it's not about that in the first place. The only thing I'd add is maybe OLED TV, because the difference with that really is big and the types of games I play on TV (DmC, Darksiders, Deadlight, etc.) would work perfectly with it & aren't hard to run anyway. But the price isn't worth it yet even for as big a jump as that, so I can wait 2-3 years for another halving.
