Why am I being refused?

iPhone credit checks are easier to pass ;)
as someone already said, it could be because you have had no credit before or because someone else in your postcode has very bad credit
Experian and Equifax are the agencies the phone companies seem to use

O2, 3 and T-Mobile are the easiest networks to pass with but they will sometimes ask for a deposit of up to £300

Could it be because I'm picking a pretty expensive phone? If I was to choose a cheaper one would I have more chance?

If that's the case I shall give Sainsbury's a piece of my mind

it is true, my mate racked up tons of debt at uni in the one year he was there and because he was registered at their address they had trouble getting a mortgage when they tried to move

Well that sucks then doesn't it.... How am I supposed to get a credit history is no one will give me credit lol!

I'm sick of paying up to £50 a month on pay as you go when I could be spending £30-£40 a month and getting more mins/texts.

so you are sending a few thousand messages a month then:confused: try other methods of communication in the future;)

I had trouble getting a contract too, and I'm a 31yr old in the highest tax bracket and with no debt!

My experience was that two networks are more co-operative than the others, Orange and T-mobile. Both said that if I took a sim-only deal with them, then after six months if I had paid on time & run the account properly, they would automatically let me move to an 18 or 24 month contract. (Neither would accept a deposit and allow me straight in though, and I even offered to pay the line rental for the full term of the contract upfront!)

In the end I had a good friend already with Orange get me a phone & contract in his name...

Well I've tried Orange, O2, T-Mobile and Voda... All declined me. Non of them even asked me to do some sort of deposit...

I really don't know what's gone wrong, I spose it could be with the credit crunch? I hear it's extra hard to get credit now.

I'm 19, rather low income, I have 2 contracts with the 3 network, they'll take anyone and pretty good deals imo.

I might give 3 a try... Heard a lot of bad stuff about them though tbh.

Hah, just checked my online banking and T-mobile took £4 from my card even though my app didn't get accepted. I'm pretty sure they said they'd refund it back if my app wasn't success though.

Hi guys.

I've been trying for a contract phone, I've already tried T-mobile, O2 and Orange and they all declined me.

I'm only 18 years old and I've *NEVER* had credit/finance before. Could this be down to my 2nd name or something?

Thanks

I rang O2 and they wouldn't give me one unless I put up a £100 deposit, then when I tried orange they gave me one without a problem. This was when I was 18 so bout 7 years ago. It must just be because lots of people are unable to pay their contracts and phone companies are now being more selective about who they give out contracts to.

Look into the 02 online tariffs, im 19, a university students and they accepted the card that i got shortly after opening the account. No credit history.

Grr... I don't see why they decide to decline me then! Maybe I'll look into buying one of those credit reports.

Orange give you unlimited texts after 6pm and at weekends, and 600 minutes free to other Orange customers if you top up £15. It's what I use, but I suppose if you want more than that.. well, tough! :p
