He did, he moaned that the forums were rubbish and cried a bit. Then everyone forgot about him quite quickly it seems.
He has since said that he didn't leave because of the quality of the forums/GD - I would link to the forum he posted that on but I believe it is in the word filter ;)

Pfft buying copied DVDs funds illegal activities such as drug abuse and terrorism in YOUR COMMUNITY!!!11

You might not like it but it is true... just like buying drugs or bootleg cigarettes / alcohol. You are putting money into the pockets of organised crime, gangsters.

That would explain why he left then rather than the whining. ;)

As for the stuff that's dodgy/illegal why not RTM it with an explanation? :)

I wouldn't :( Remember the price of cigarettes / booze here is higher due to tax, not the companies who make or sell it.

I'm sure in a couple more years, we'll be even worse off. I suppose it's down to popularity. Since OcUK has such a wide audience the possibilities of it being shut down increase.

I found copies of all my software whilst taking a walk in the woods, is that illegal by the way?

It could be, yes. Depending on the exact circumstances in which you found them, it could be theft. Proper theft, as in courts and criminal records, I mean, not "software theft".

Theft by finding?

And the software wouldn't be lisenced properly. Double whammy.

Oh, come on, it's obvious.

Gangsters are more likely to be honest about their actions and motives.

:D

And they don't sting you for tax.

I noticed that any talk of American TV shows is stamped on but everyone just seems to accept that 16 year old kids can afford several software packages worth £500+

not entirely true, i watch American TV quite legally from the comfort of my home.

Any of talk of unreleased American shows is stamped on. It's basically admitting you've done something illegal.

erm... no its not. see slingmedia via google.

A useful and constructive post.

I have always assumed many iffy topics were down to moderator discretion. Perhaps they should swap some mods out from CD/DVDs to Motors :p
