Just curious like. Visited my sister's today who lives in Stoke Newington and realised that by far the biggest ethnic group that lives there are Turks. I mean, it's clear why there are so many black, Pakistani and Indian immigrants cos of the empire etc - but Turkey was never in the empire, and historically we've had few close ties with them, even fought against 'em in 2 world wars. Turkey ain't part of the EU either, and I think there were loads of Turks in North London before the EU was conceived, so why the mass migration here?

Just to be clear, I'm not having a pop at immigrants here, just curious as to why they decided to come here?

UK is a soft touch, besides people like kebabs.

Much worse in The Netherlands/Germany they are bloomin' everywhere and they cause real problems.

Because they have nice Kebab's.

I'm sceptical of that.
Since I've lived in London all the kebabs I've had (except for one place near London Bridge, which has since closed) have been crap and the ones up north have been so much better.

Saying that, I've eaten at Tas (Turkish restaurant chain) several times and that's always been good.
