Poll: Why aren't members allowed to create their own polls?

Should members be allowed to add their own polls?

The consoles forum would become 47.2% poles overnight, and most of them would boil down to which fan boy clan you belong to.

EDIT: Not to mention should we ban DVDHiggins29 or however else is our resident cabbage at the time.

Having polls accessible to people with x amount of posts isn't going to fix things, there would still be a lot of crap produced.

Speaking as someone who runs a busy forum, I've often regretted allowing members to use the poll function - there are people who will make every post a poll, it it frankly gets very irritating very quickly. Personally I can see the logic entirely.

I like it how it is; otherwise it'd be:

Graphics Cards
  • ATi
  • Nvidia

Consoles
  • Xbox 360
  • PS3

Processors
  • AMD
  • Intel

OS's
  • Mac
  • Windows
  • Linux

Photography
  • Canon
  • Nikon

Motors: Are Vauxhall's crap?
  • Yes
  • No
  • Mondeo

It would be World War 3.

um most of those polls already exist :/

Because we would probably despair over some of the polls - "what colour shirt should i wear tonight?", "whose hotter, Lilo Lill or Aunty Wainwright?" etc ;)

While I've used the forums for a few years I have always expected this sort of answer.

There are rules to follow when making a normal post, there can be new rules when making a poll.

Look at how many people post every week how they "may" risk getting banned for saying this or that or bringing up a competitor. The same sort of thing would happen over a poll.

If a rule was broken, they would be suspended or even banned.

There is no need to treat the members like complete babies.

But then again I could bring up the poll to change the blue background which was started by Spie and look what came from that - nothing.

The same thing will come about from this thread too.
