Poll: Why aren't members allowed to create their own polls?

Should members be allowed to add their own polls?

If a poll is requested by RTM the chances of it being created earlier in the discussion are far higher than when the OP just sticks a request in the first post and expects a Don to see it:)
Everytime I request a poll (Which, to be fair, is not often) I post the requirements in the first post, and then report the thread.

Still takes you guys an age :p

Infact, I asked for a poll once and didn't get one period!!! It was madness!

Does no one appreciate that the people who moderate these forums do so in their own time?
Would anyone care to contribute a few quid to recompense them for their time and effort?

I like it how it is; otherwise it'd be:

Graphics Cards
  • ATi
  • Nvidia

Consoles
  • Xbox 360
  • PS3

Processors
  • AMD
  • Intel

OS's
  • OS X
  • Windows
  • Linux

Photography
  • Canon
  • Nikon

Motors: Are Vauxhall's crap?
  • Yes
  • No
  • Mondeo

Maybe if the general population of these forums were a bit more mature it could have been an option.

lol nice poll count.

but tbh, I'm some what in agreeance to the 10k+ allowance as a trial period :p

Very few that post frequently in gd with 10k+ post and even fewer post nonsense... I wouldnt use it tbh, because a) I'll never make 2k posts and b) My thread quality sucks more than homer simpsons math.

If bad polls is your argument, then I would say there's a counter to it... but then I could say that to any argument you gave so Im just gonna end on the fact that who REALLY cares.

You sound like you read the Daily Mail. Oh the drama!

But seriously - surely that arguement could then be in favour of us lot making our own polls...

It would be World War 3.

The Gentoo forums had polls when I was over there. Some of them were right garbage, but they usually got deleted pretty quick. Still, a burden on the mods nonetheless.

The Dons volunteer to moderate the forums - if they couldn't give any extra time they wouldn't have accepted the position
I'm aware of that - I moderate a forum and know how much time it can take up.
Volunteering to moderate a forum doesn't mean a Don is there 24 hours a day at the beck and call of members though.
Back on topic - it looks like the 'result' of the poll is conclusive ;)

That's not the point - there are more than enough mods at OCUK to deal with any baddies :p I have modded - and owned - multiple large forums and found it more enjoyable than a chore - one that would only take lots of time out of your day only if you allow it to.

But nonetheless, it looks like the dons have made it clear they don't want public polls :p

Can you imagine what it would be like when the pollohollics get started, we’ll have mountains of rubbish, no thanks.
