Lads, I have a friend who got a wage rise from £7.21 to a wopping £7.50 an hour, im trying to work out what precentage wage rise that actually equates to but cannot for the life of me do it, can someone let me know the answer please and how they worked it out will be helpful :)

Thanks.

Try and understand how percentages work, and definitely avoid learning a formula.
Say to yourself how much bigger or smaller one value is, compared to another.
That is a quotient, or the result of a simple division. You then multiply up by 100 to get a percentage

1/(7.21/7.50) = 1.04x the original wage. A 4% rise. ;)

But I agree with the above post. I haven't not helped.

How I did it in my head

£7.21 to £7.50 is + 29p

£7.21 = 100%
72.1p = 10%
7.21p = 1%

7.21p x 4 = 28.84p close enough...

so lets say 4%

though my m8s on skype say just do 29/721
