Why do cats get orgasmic

Another one for the cat psycologists, why do we often get up in a morning to sind that the cat has dropped soem of her toys ( toy mice etc ) into her food ( or water ) bowl

Some cats just can't see the water, or feel it, and need the contrast of a toy, the floor, or even ripples to get a sense of where it is, rather than sniffing and getting a nose full of water.

Others do it to make ripples. Cat's love fresh flowing water. Check out water fountains for cats and dogs.

Why do some cats put their toys in their water or food dish?
Cats look upon their food area as part of their territory, and that particular area of their territory usually doesn't change from day to day - so the cats are likely putting their favorite toys away in a "safe" place. Some cats will consistently put away their toys when they're through playing with them - you might try putting your cat's toys in a small basket near one of his favorite spots and see if he will put them away on his own.

There ya go buddy ;)

I seem to remember seeing somewhere that cats do the padding thing, when they are on something, from back when they were wild and checking for snakes in a nest.

my cats seems to do all the things which is sometimes fun to watch. one of my cats, loves to get into carrier bags. apparently they like the sound of the crinklyness. i havent tried the blinking twice thing yet so i must try that right away.

Your suggestion and Vanilla's both make sense

As for putting their toys away then I can agree with that, our cat keeps all her toys under the TV cabinet ( well the ones she can move anyway ) , unfortunately she often deems other things ( cufflinks, batteries, pens etc ) to be hers and these get put under there too :D

Is that a euphemism? :p

Padding is from when they are kittens and push on their mother's tummy to encourage milk to flow.

Tail in the air is an invitation to sniff their bum and is only done with familiar trusted people.

Never stare at your cat as it is highly aggressive. Look at the cat, look away, glance back. The cat will usually come to you. This is the reason that cats tend to go to people who don;t like them; because the person looks away from the cat while all the cat-lovers stare at it, the cat goes to the least threatening person.

All of this is available in Catwatching by Desmond Morris, the complete bible on cat body language and behaviour. If you have a cat, you must buy this.

Also get The Silent Miaow by Paul Gallico, a book he claimed had been typed by his cat as a guidebook for cats on how to control their humans.

That makes sense Mike. My parents cat always goes to my father as he just sits there, whereas my mother and I would generally go and fuss it.

Aye, I was about to post that. Can't believe it took 3 pages to get it! It's all about the milk. My cat sits on my lap and milks my stomach. It hurts if you're not wearing enough clothes.

Blinking at cats has a similar effect. Blinking is a way of expressing submission or non-threatening-ness. Cats often have staring contests before fighting each other.

We have a good cat psychology book called Cat Confidential which is pretty interesting - all about weird cat behaviours, and what they mean and how to sort things out.

Nah, that when they are checking for "Snakes on a plane"! :D

If it's cold at night, one of ours has taken to climbing under the duvet.
He then finds my wife hand and put his paw on it, only then will he go to sleep.

.

I know cats really, really hate citrus smells or eucalyptus. I remember my cat sniffing a tub of vicks and looking like it wanted to feint straight after.

One of my cats occasionally will sit on the top of the chair im sitting on and lick my hair likes he's washing me, really goes to town doing it as well.

They also seem to like earwax for some reason, after using a cottonbud one time i dropped it, the cat grabbed it and started licking at it for ages, all 3 of them seem to like doing that for some reason. Thet also seem to like cleaning you if you've been sweating, must be the salt in it or something.

Cats are the best tbh. Our current one, chloe,SHE decides when she wants to sit on your lap. She sits in the groove between my legs, its funny when you massage the neck/bit the mother bites them at,she literally puts her head on my leg and drools all over it.....ew.

My grans cat would always jump up on visitors laps,he used to sit and claw your legs to hell :)

Im gonna try that blinking stuff with my cat and see what happens. I've noticed that my cat will not for the life of her look into a mirror  force her to and she looks away

pics....cause shes the queen.

I think someone has realised we are talking about her ( taken 2 mins ago )

Wow, what a gorgeous cat!

Mine is getting on a bit now, still content sleeping as much as ever though :D

She does the padding thing, rubs against my legs when she wants something and walks around in circles or walks her front legs up the back door when she wants out.

She also dreams when asleep, which has led to some funky moves :D
