Why do I hate apple?

You can have a good looking pc (you can even build one inside a mac case if you want), there are also compact pcs, you can have your pc as quiet as you like and dont tell me theres more software for Mac OS.

My last self-build I attempted to get it looking the best but it still pales in comparison to my iMac.

Where would I get an empty iMac case?

To get a PC small and quiet increases cost quite a lot. I got the biggest fans could on my last build, still noisy. Apple have the quietest pre-built systems. You could water cool but difficult and expensive.

And yes you get more software out of the box than PC's. Not everyone wants to pay extra or download another program just to play DVD's.

well it is a computer forum, so were not gonna argue about houses or summit are we?

well you can argue about houses if you really want ... but it is well obvious from the start of this thread that the guys doing all the talking apparently haven't even used macs before and they have some preconceived idea of what they are like. It sounds like its more a case of windows fanboys v mac fanboys rather than pc v mac

why would you want to download a new media player for DVD's on windows anyway?

Lol are you really that nieve? or am i really going to have to post million of links to countless windows problems?

Of course there's going to appear to be more Windows problems; there's more Windows users.

In addition, I'd also argue that most problems I find myself having to fix aren't attributed to Windows at all. Usually it's a crappy piece of software (or more than one) that's decided to mess with Windows and creates trouble. Perfect example I had yesterday; had to go over to this girl's house because her Belkin wireless USB adapter wasn't working and was kicking up errors. Nothing to do with Windows at all, it was a combination of the awful Belkin software and BT HomeHub software (both of which decided to interfere with Windows' own Wireless Zero Config system), and caused errors.

Surely a hallmark of a good OS would be stopping applications taking down the whole OS? And it therefore wouldn't matter what applications crash? Or how many of them there was.

Apps crash on my Mac plenty of times. But I just force-quit and open it again. The OS is unaffected. On Windows you're required to restart the whole computer when an app freezes the screen.

That almost never happens anymore, unless it's some kind of hardware/driver error. Back in the Windows 98 days a program could certainly render the OS unusable until it was restarted, but XP and Vista are both perfectly able to avoid that.

Its my thread and If late comers want to comment then I suggest they actually read the whole thread rather than jumping on the bandwagon.

I use mac's I use PC's I have studied at degree level using macs and have experience on them in a professional capacity.

This still doesn't stop me from hating apple.

It make people believe they have the skills to create
It makes people believe they have the skills to be "cutting edge"

In reality it makes you a **** as most people here defending macs, and I might add this thread has nothing to do about that. Are coming across as aggresive and highly delusional.

Macs do one thing.

They make people think they are something they are not.

Its my thread and its my opinion. And I have had enough experience in the professional sector to come to this conclusion.

Still dont understand and you havent answered why you said "you can have your pc as quiet as you like"

I just really hope some l33t hacker writes a hundred viruses for macs as it'll shut up the "no need for virus scanner" debate.

Lol really nice thing to hope for just because you dont like mac?

Got antivirus running on mine all it finds is damn windows viruses in emails

incorrect i use them all the time at school, and there OK, but mac os x isn't all it's cracked up to be. but my argument is basically PC's are better value for money, i think having macs and pc's is good, it adds diversity, and more choice, just wish they had more substance.

I agree

I find it easier to do my work at home on my pc than in college on the macs

Damn one click mice :(

is that just a personal grudge against macs coming through?? Do you not think it is a desirable thing to have no viruses associated with an operating system? Sounds ridiculous what you are saying mate

I don't understand. If you build a PC and install Windows XP or non-media centre capable Vista you won't be able to play DVD's.

You'd have to buy DVD software or download VLC.

Where did I say I don't like macs?

I posted above saying I use them at work.

I just think out of all the arguments, a lot (including the virus one) are ****.

It isn't ridiculous, 99.9999%* of computer users are windows, hence the ideal and main virus target.

I USE a mac at work as it is much, much faster for my work.... solely because of *nix architecture.

*figures exaggerated for dramatic affect
