This has baffled me completely! why do women open their mouths when applying mascara?

As a man I can never understand the concept of women opening their mouth while applying mascara. Opening the mouth provides no benefit. Is it an involuntary spasm or something?

Stretches the facial muscles, which removes the crows feet around the eyes making the eye open more allowing easier application....

ermm involuntary due to concentrating I should say.

Why don't you just try it yourself and see if you can do it with your mouth closed? If you can't then you can enlighten us as to why the mouth is open.

You get a virtual cookie if you can do it without poking yourself in the eye...nothing if you do it without falling over though (that's pretty much a given).
