Why do you drink?

I get drunk for the fun of it. I get drunk with my mates who, even when drunk are just up for a laugh and that's it. Never ever do we run into any trouble due to alcohol.

It's even better when you don't have a hangover the next day. (Something which has happened quite a lot to me lately :D)

I used to ask myself this question a lot... turns out it was because I'm an alcoholic :P Now I go out and have fun without a drink (much cheaper, water is free!) and I remember everything. Just gets boring when your mates start repeating themselves and shouting in your ear  :P

It makes me feel good, and the more I have the less I care about all the other crap in my life.

Everything in moderation...... ;)

People that don't drink are weird. It is good fun and does no harm in moderation.

It's fun is basically all it needs to be for me to do it, that is my main aim in life. As soon as it stops being fun then it is time to stop doing it as often. but drinking never? Unless you have a very addictive personality and think you will end up an alcoholic or are are some kind of social recluse it is reasonably cheap/safe entertainment. it is popular for a reason imho.

It may come as a surprise to you, but some people are able to enjoy themselves without alcohol. Some people are happy with themselves and their mind the way they are without having to alter their brain functions to have a good time.

Most people drink, thus non drinkers are not normal, ie weird.
Most people don't live in the UK, does that make all UK residents weird?

I enjoy a pint now and again but often it's just because I'm out in a pub, need a drink and it's what everyone is drinking. Normally at home I just have squash/cordial/water. It also makes for a more interesting night and helps social anxiety.

I don't tend to do it anymore. Sometimes when I have a reunion with old mates we may go out on a bar crawl and get hammered, or stay in and play drinking games. It's still fun, but this only happens 2, maybe 3 times a year. Other than that I don't get hammered because it's expensive and unpleasant the day after.

I dont trust anyone that doesnt or has never had a drink.
Especially if they think they are xtreem, they are usally the most boring people on earth.

Why I get hammered? I like the taste of beer... But drink too much on a night out (as I would if I started dancing and got Lemonade all night).

There's also the fact that York is a rubbish night out unless you're already at the tipsy/merry level when you step outside the door

I am not a heavy drinker at all. I can quite happily go out and not drink. In fact I haven't been massively drunk for several months and get on fine socialising and dancing just on Orange juice or Coke but from experience it is generally more fun when I am drunk. So why wouldn't you get drunk when there are so few downsides and have more fun? Personally my main reason is cost and not wanting to feel ill the next day. but not drinking at all. everyone can manage a couple of pints without becoming a blithering idiot, going bankrupted or raging alcoholic. Man up.

I just can't understand why it wouldn't be the same for anyone else unless you were a homo.

For me It's just something else to do. If I was content watching TV, riding my bike, playing football, playing computer games etc then I would do those but sadly most stuff I like doing such as going on far away holidays, skiing or fast cars costs money so although I do that when I can, beer is cheep fun and makes most things more enjoyable.
